Steam Crave Aromarizer Plus : why does it sometimes leak and sometimes doesn't?

I occasionally wipe the chimney and whilst it is moist, its nothing like the amount that pours out when refilling after an incorrect rebuild. That at least has been my experience on the Aromarizer Plus with 70VG/30PG.

Still convinced it was the cotton not covering the holes.

Oh and a separate issue that causes a similar problem, dropping the top cap, slightly denting it so that it never makes an airtight seal. The lack of negative pressure makes the liquid just ooze out continuously, perhaps exacerbated by the incorrect cotton position.

@scrumpox has just about covered everything. I can only add from my experience - As long as you've got your wicking right the aromamizer plus should be leak free for at least the first 3-5 tankful's after fresh cotton. After that I do start to get a bit of leakage from the air holes for a short time after filling. Cotton is cheap, so it may pay to adopt a "zero tolerance" policy and change your cotton as soon as the seepage becomes annoying, even if it means changing after every three or four tank fulls or sooner.
It may be a pain to keep renewing your cotton but the aromamizer plus does perform at it's best when it's got the fresh, new cotton feeling.

Most experienced vapers recognise that wicking is a difficult thing to be consistently precise about ... cotton as a medium is variable, so making identical wicks time after time is practically impossible. I tend to make it worse for myself by switching between Muji, Cotton Bacon, Fuzion and Native Wicks on an almost contant cycle.
The constant is in the prep ... open out the fibres before gently rolling, get the tension right inside the coil, fluff out the tails, trim out the excess tail (the bigger the ID opf the coil, the more I will trim off) then lay over the juice holes or slots, never compressing the fibres on the deck.

It's pretty evident when you're using too much or too little, then you find the operable range in between is wide; the Aromamizers are not finicky like other tanks.

I also find wick longevity to be variable ... juice is the main factor in this. Sometimes a wick doesn't really break in until 3-4 tanks have been through it, other times a wick is done after only 2-3 tanks. Don't stress it too much, it doesn't take long to rewick and it's cheap as.

The main cause of condensation issues is the choice of drip tip. Those with o-rings tend to add a step inside the chimney, I never use them, I always choose a friction fit.

Think we've cracked it. The wicking is the key I now firmly believe. It has to cover the holes at the bottom of the deck to prevent serious seeping when filling. Wicked twice paying attention to the holes at the bottom of the deck and have had no problems.
Hope it works for others too on this great tank.

I have the Aromamizer Supreme and it was leaking juice like a MF. Instead of poking my wick through the holes in the deck, I started folding my wick under the coils just covering the holes. No more leaking! I still get some condensation around the air holes but just a tiny amount.
If you use high PG juice as I do, I would definitely recommend folding the wick under.
