I put them in the tray to start with but they float so i took them out anyway and put them on their side. Id probably get better results if i had glass bottles so gotta order some in

Did you put the bottles in the tray? If they're touching the metal outer bowl it greatly reduces the results.

Hi schlinky yeah put them in the plastic tray, gave them a shake and squeezed air every half hour for 2hrs and there was no discernible difference in the flavour

It says that using the plastic tray, basket reduces the effectiveness by 30%

What is "it"? The manual?

Seems odd, by coupling the device being cleaned to the emitting surface the item is moving in unison with the water thus reducing the interaction significantly. Granted if the bars on the cage were too wide they could disrupt the waves but it certainly seem contrary to what I would expect/have read.

Yeah it says it in the manual for the aldi one, makes sense to me as it is putting a barrier between tank sides and stuff you have in to clean

I just read that it reduces performance. The best solution would be to hang the bottles in the water, suspended from a bar above. That way there's no direct coupling and no basket to get in the way.

Here's something:

If that's tl:dr check point 3 here:

There's a picture on this one ;)
The Ultrasonic Cleaner FAQ

From what I can tell it's essentially a speaker stuck to a metal plate, if you put something on that plate then you're restricting the movement of the device and could shorten the life of the unit, same way you don't touch a speaker when it's on.

Is it worth worrying about? Probably not ;)

Thanks Wal577 I'll give them another blast tomorrow night when I get in from college see if it makes much difference without the basket

Hi I have about 8 10ml for about 2hr in still look the same clear

What I have noticed most is I mix my liquids quite vg heavy and even after 5 minutes of vigorous shaking by hand you can still see the vg has not mixed, but 10 minutes in the cleaner and the juice is all mixed together, and not seperated as in doing it by hand, therefore it has a better starting point to start steeping, and so this step surely reduces steeping time

My experience with Aldi cleaner

Made my juices gave em probaly a hour in the cleaner no plastic tray and yes there was a difference in colour and the juice did seem it had mixed well and plastic bottles were warm

When i put glass bottles in there it was a lot noisier (sound waves???) and glass bottles were warmer. Made me nervous in all honesty thought glass might explode

From talking to premium juice makers in the past i do kno they use water baths to increase steeping times and j have been advised to put juice in warm water in the past.

I personally think it has made difference to steeping
