Sub-ohming and VV/VW mods

Hi fellow Apes.

I am confused (I seemed to be saying that alot these days)

Right, I was under the impression that VV/VW mods (e.g. MVP v2 and Innokin VV/VW V3) will NOT fire an atty that is less than around 1.3 ohm.

Hence, in order to sub-ohm you either needed a Mech Mod or a DNA30 (which I now have)

but, that is simply not true!!!

I have built a Fogger V4 with dual micro-coil coming in at 0.8ohm and also a IGO-W dripper at 0.9 Ohm and they both fire/work with my VV/VW devices (MVP & V3)

So, what gives??

is it safe, will they blow up in my face???

whilst I don't have a dedicated ohm meter - I 3 devices that display Atty resistance and they are all consistent

a little worried now - also, wonderign why I bought a DNA30, when I could sub-ohm and get the flavour and vapour I craved with my VV/VM mods??

any help witll be greatly appreciated

Asif

Both the mvp and the innokin will fire with a coil down to 0.9 (thats the 'official' number) reality is that they fire plus or minus a bit from 0.9.
All well and good? Hmm, well, maybe, but although the coil is a ,for example, 0.9ohm coil, question is, do these devices supply enough power to actually get the benefit of the resistance, or are they, in fact, shite at sub ohm because they are only supplying a gnats worth of power?

Both the zmax or the itaste VV3 won't fire anything below 1.2

Zmax will produce low load and the itaste will show non and go into safe mode.

Thanks mate, yeah, I think I understand what is going on here (sort of)

whilst the VV/VW mods can fire low ohm atty's - the regulator will simply reduce the power and/or volts accordingly regardless of what I set it as.

So, if I have, say 0.8 Ohms, then it will auto adjust to ensure the maximium amp doesn't exceed 3.5A

I think!

Sorry, but not true!

my iTaste VV3 AND MVP v2 are both firing my 0.8ohm build!

Of course, I am not intending to use it on these devices (will use on the DNA 30) - but was just curious on what was going on

BTW - if the safe mode is supposed to kick-in - then both my devices are not working properly

That's correct manic, the current is limited to 3.5A, therefore although a coil fires if the current required exceeds 3.5A then it might still be firing up but won't be any hotter than it was at 1.2 ohms.

It could be that the firmware has been updated to accept loads down to 0.7 ohms, a figure that has been used on some other VV mods but it does not really matter as the mod will calculate the Maximum current it can supply Versus the Minimum current the coil will take and if Max Supply is less than Minimum take it will show an error, otherwise it will fire until it reaches max current then hold at that level regardless of whether you set it higher. For proof see Pbusardo videos of Vamo outputs...

Well neither of mine will fire below 1.2ohm so either mine are wrong or yours are ? Is there anyway your 0.8 build is higher than you think it is ?

You're right manic_asif all innokins will fire 0.8ohms. This guys says it better than me...

manic_asif Lets say you have an MVP2 You set it to 11W that's the max output it can do. You can put a 1.2 ohm build on it and you will be vaping at 11w, you could put a 0.9 build on it and it will still be 11w.

Low ohm builds require more power to run at their full potential, otherwise it's just the same as vaping at a higher ohm if you don't have the power to support the build.

If you take at this page Battery drain | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators and adjust the ohms, you will see how many watts are required to power the build efficiently.
