I'm not sure if any of you ever get a change to sit down and have a think, or even want to and just put some words onto paper.

I am relatively new to this vaping scene and I still smoke cigarettes. Some may turn to me and say that my opinion doesn't count because I'm still smoking. If you are one of these, then you may as well start looking elsewhere.

I was introduced to vaping by Chris ( cdurkin100 ), an owner of a forum which specialises in Marine / Reef setups so there was no push, no sales, nothing other than "go on ya nut, give this a go" or something along those lines. I have smoked a lot of cigarettes in many years and to be honest I have tried some other substitutes with no success. I was going to speak to the doctor and even managed to pick up a leaflet which detailed some form of cessation. Anyway, along comes Chris with a gift, an Ego type battery with a CE Clearo. Filled to the brim with Mint Choc Chip. I gave it a try and bingo, it's working. It's not perfect for me, but it's a start and a positive leap in the direction I want to go to.

I am yet to find a perfect combination of battery / top thingy and juice to draw me away completely from the cigarettes so my search starts and continues.

So, that's me. Nothing too exciting and I am sure many others are following a similar route. So, let me ramble, waffle and just throw some words down......

Info
Wow, there is a lot of information out there, whether is be in forums, sellers or individuals blogging about their latest finds both positive and negative. Just to focus on this site alone, I have learnt a lot from POTV which in reality is a relatively young forum with a mix of people all willing to help every single person to jump hurdles they reach. You an watch or read video reviews and tutorials, you even get the odd one crop up from time to time.
I have to say, I have never seen such a scene whereby it doesn't matter what kit you're using and you don't have to have the latest to be listened to.

The Hurdle
The problem I had though, and I bet a lot of people do have the same is that there is a gap between a simple starting point and having some more advanced pieces of kit. I only ventured into a Carto / Tank a few weeks ago. At the time I started Vaping, the trend was Clearo Clearo Clearo, then it was Rebuildable, followed by a complete mix. This trend almost seems to be global, maybe with a week or two between changes but it indicates that vaping is far from mature. At maturity, I kind of expect to see a basic and clear definition of items which fall into a "cheap and cheerful" category, and then "this is the don" kind of category, no doubt with a few mid points.

Personally, I do not have a bloody clue as to the difference between a Simple Mech Mod with Aga and an iHybrid other than the latter looking very pretty and having a relatively scary price tag. I have made a couple of vids, done a couple of reviews and to be honest my main aim (other than being silly) is to try and bridge the gap, or make the hurdle lower for those who are relatively new to vaping.

DOA
Right, so you get your 5 Cartomizer tanks (and should we be calling these Cartomiser, substitute Z with S?). You fill up the first one, it lasts a week, then the remaining 4 are dead. Where does that leave you with DOA warranty. Ok, it would be a rare occurrence, but given that I have had 1 DOA our of 2, to me that's a 33% failure rate which I expect to change considerably up over time. Now, in the example above, I think that things such as Cartomisers are subject to rapid failure through design, they just die out through use and are cheap enough to replace but I do see DOA on some more complex items such as mods, rebuildables and so on. I hate DOA myself, and usually stray away from suppliers unless it's something I intend to use immediately but I often see things such as DOA, 7 day, 14 day and so on warranties.

Junk
If you have read Todd's recent rambling about Vapour Hut, it's sad news. I'll throw in here that I probably would have taken a different approach, but you can see the disappointment on his face, and in his voice as he speaks. I have 1 dud rebuildable, 1 dud ego battery and at least one dud Vivi Nova. So, adding that up, that's about £50 worth of stuff at a guess. Not the end of the world, but add up the time, the stress and all the other crap associated with duds and you're wasting time and money. I'm all for innovation and if someone comes up with new tech I like to play but have to admit I am now very hesitant when buying stuff, because sometimes it is just pants. Add the Vamo into the equation (though now rectified), the price goes up.
I don't mind a bit of DIY to make something better but if it's crap in the first place then I am just wasting my time so now I look out for all the whinges that people have, and take note. I will do my best to no longer throw money down the drain. I'm game for being blunt. If it's pants, then it's pants. If the manufacturer or supplier listens to you and rectifies it, then bingo. If not, then I'll do what I can to explain why I am not happy.

Flavours
How cool is this. I am currently getting a nicotine fix while vaping something that is called gingerbread. It smells great, and tastes superb. I have to say that as I keep going, I am learning that there is so much more to the standard offered by many and you can get some fantastic flavours which make it more appealing. The dripping atomiser allows me to change flavours and mix them up while the change takes place.
As I progress in this hobby (I'm allowed to call it a hobby now as I have shedloads of kit and bits) I start to realise the flavours I enjoyed at the beginning are no longer enjoyable as I find more and more flavours appearing. It's kind of scary, let's be honest £5 plus postage for 10ml of juice isn't the cheapest way of trying things and I'd like to thank those who have given me some samples and swapped to allow me to trial some flavours I wouldn't normally consider whether is be through price or name.

Anyway, I'll leave you there. It's just a ramble and I reckon I might actually structure something properly one day. Vaping is huge, the worries about upcoming legalities are scary. Blah Blah Blah :)

Yay for cdurkin100 He gets a good pat on the back for letting us steal ZT into our admin folds. And for letting me post over on TSB about our forum!

Kit doesn't matter here, as long as we can help someone, that's what counts!

Honestly, the hype about one product or another changes bi-weekly it seems. I remember when the Clearo's came out last year and that was all the hype, then back to boge, then bauway, then rebuildables, then clearo's again. It swings back and forth all the time.

Email the vendor, more often than not they are understanding. This is an imperfect industry as we are using itty bitty tiny coils to heat up stuff we inhale, the only way it can get perfected is by complaining to your vendor! Not sure about you Brits :P but us Americans raise hell when shit doesnt do what it's supposed to. Sometimes I feel a right bastard when I email a vendor over a mistake but I have found, they fix it faster than if I had never contacted them at all!

See my comment above.

Very nice Ramble Mr Roberts, I agree with a lot you say. Vaping is relatively young and things are evolving at break neck speed. Every week there seems to be some new bit of kit out there. It was a minefield when I started, don't know how many websites I trawled through looking for the best deal on a starter kit. Received it got one battery on charge, at the end of that day put the other one on, woke up the next morning and it was DOA Hadn't charged and that was only the second day! Contacted the Vendor and after a day he got back to me and stuck an Ego twist in the post which was an upgrade from what I had purchased, so I was happy.

Now 3 months on I have the vamo, which at the minute I've had no problems with (apart from the finish) touch wood. I know there are a few out there that have. I'm not really that worried about the finish or how stuff looks. I just like it to work. Like rollies, may look like a Nik-Nak but if it smokes ok, who cares. Really like the rebuilding part as well, be it Vivi's or the Aga-T, keeps your mind off other things (stinkies) and gives me something to fiddle with in the evening;) Much to the wifes annoyance. Always moaning about vaping gear all over the shop :)

Well gonna call it a night.

you should defo consider Megs proposal ..

No. I refuse to sleep with a 3 legged dog called tripod only to achieve a legally allowed name of tripod_rob3rts. It's wrong, impractical and I wouldn't like the dog catching anything.

Cheers for the responses guys.

As for a blog writer. I really do not think I am mature enough (in terms of being relatively new to the area), nor do I have the capability to cover many areas such as new tech and so on. Still unemployed.

Jimsie33 - Great news. I too have had some fantastic outcomes from a supplier which is great. I like your overall view. It works, you're happy. I guess if it didn't work, many people would be back on the smokeys.
