Time to try dripping . . .

Only things that burn in a ssilica build should be the juice,though I've had a seal/insulator catch fire on a cheap dripper.

Silica shouldn't catch fire when you dry burn it, cotton wool will though.

That's what I thought. It definitely isn't cotton wool. I should have taken the advice on the site and bought some extra wick and wire when I placed the order, but figured I might not like the whole business. That's what I get for trying to be sensible. D'oh!

also, at one point one of the legs was really glowing when I was testing the coil (4 wraps which came out at 2.4ohms - much higher than what I was aiming for).

That's a hotspot, could be that the leg is too long, keep at it, I found by just tinkering and asking lots of questions on here is the best way to get into it. I try and get the coil as close to the posts as possible without touching them, also make sure the airhole is close to the coil.
 
With all the updates on the IGO range what is the advantage of the newer ones over some of the older ones
 
some are single coil, some dual coil, some are 20-22mm for most mechs, some are slimline for smaller mods . other than that not much difference otehr than design tbh and really theres probably only about 5 or 6 in the range ( think one is a quad coil job too )
 
Ok, so got some more wick and wire through today, and after another unsuccessful attempt at a traditional coil, decided to try a microcoil. This works, but takes a long old time to heat up. It also came out at quite a high ohm level - 2.4. I'm guessing I reduce this by a couple of wraps less next time. Would this also speed up the heating time?

Yup,less metal to heat = faster heating times.
 
done another setup, 7 coils or so, 1.7ohms, tasty and foggy. Thanks for all the help guys! :2thumbsup:
