OK, I give in! I seem to be getting somewhere between 4 days to a maximum of 6 from the coils with my Vivi Nova, so, I think it's time I got on with learning about making my own coils?
I know there is a wealth of videos on youtube etc, but can someone explain in easy to understand language (a) what I need to do this and (b), HOW to do it? I keep finding that the youtube vids don't really stick in my head!! I know I am a simpleton, but there we go!:stinker:

Rob head to the how to section fella there is a great method in there with loads of tips and tricks

They are a doddle after the first couple of attempts, the central pin on the base slides out precision flat screwdrivers or thumb nails are good here), then the rubber grommet underneath it which in turn releases the wick and coil from the internal stem. On the way back in one of the coil tails is pinched between the grommet and the stem wall while the other goes through the grommet centre and is trapped by the central pin and grommet wall to keep + and - isolated.

Make the tails much longer than you need and you can trap them in their respective section before cutting the tails short with snips - I use bonsai scissors as they are sharp and pointy.

Thanks a million People, I now feel confident enough to have a go at this. I will report back once I have had a go. I have order all the stuff, so when it arrives, I'll let you know!:stinker:

Good luck and have fun :D

Or... Don't Do IT! As it is the start of a very slippery slope, one of addiction, perfection, silica and wire. One where one bad turn will have you doing it all again for the sake of perfection. One 'just do another' to see how it improves on the last. In short, it is the beginning of the end.

seriously though. Enjoy. It's not scary as long as you keep the bits safe and remember how they came out and it becomes quite a fun thing to faff with.

the only problem he may have is the testing of the coils ( what I use was 3mm silica and 0.2 wire with 6 winds but unwinding the first one as always came out lose 5 good winds @ around 2 ohms :) )

Testing the coils??? LOL.

Luckily, my wife is a very expert user of Multi Meters.:5:

Just wanted to thank you all for the help and guidance that I received..... I am now doing all our Coils quite happily.:5:
