Tiny DIY 18650 DNA40

Great work! Very neat build, which is difficult to achieve in such a small space, clearly a lot of thought went into this!

Are you using the NI 200? I am hearing very mixed results, I presume there is an art to using the NI 200 and DNA 40?

All I could get was "pure nickel" from Vape Atomiser Mesh Co, I did PM them on UKV to ask if it was upto Ni200 and they didn't reply, last night their news email said they will be stocking 0.2 & 0.45 mm (0.45 will be no good). It does work, you have to really clamp down twisted coils or the pre-heat is too much. Just dug out an old RSST with a volume reducer, drilled the air hole to 2.5 mm put a 3 mm ss rope 19x7 wick and twisted nickel 0.2 mm coil @ 0.15 Ω and can vape it at 40 W limited to 460° F (238 C) and its grate! Completely impracticable as it gets too hot too quick.

(I posted the following on another forum yesterday)
So far I am really impressed with the DNA40 it does protect you from dry hits and allows you to vape the tank dry without nasty hits or damaged wick. When the tank runs dry or the battery gets too low you just get less vapour, I would even consider using steel tanks now as I wouldn't have to worry about running dry. Rayon really comes into its own as cotton discolours at about 410° F Rayon can take 510° F.

I have not had a better vape on a kayfun than with twisted 0.2 mm nickel 3 mm diameter 0.2 Ω coil, rayon wick with a 2.5 mm air hole running at 20 W limited to 460° F. I have a DNA30 with a twisted kanthal coil on a identical kayfun for side by side comparison and the DNA40 is a lot better vape. It is a beast and I never thought I would get a kayfun running well at 20 W on the DNA30 a similar Kanthal build needs to stay under 15 W with my juice or it gets too hot toward the end. The biggest thing I notice is the almost instant heat up on the DNA40, the DNA30 takes almost 2 seconds to get up to temperature with this big twisted coil. Flavour is about the same it is the same as it ever was all about the build + power + liquid, although the first hit on nickel is best avoided as they use some very unpleasant oil in the manufacturing process and I should have cleaned it first. You can turn the temp limit off to dry burn or pulse the nickel coils.

IMO this is a bigger step than from VV to VW, but it is early days for me and I may change my mind over the next few weeks.

Vaping Bad

That's a very impressive build - and the perfect size/format.

I am currently using a Sigelei 100w - whilst I am liking the build quality and function/feature flexibility - I am not enjoying the size/format. Just a cm or so too large for my small hands.

great build and good to see/hear your experiences with the DNA40 chip

Nice work Bad :) Why do you make the inside bigger? I didn't have to do that every fit nicely.

@Seedy you have a mill no excuses why you don.t make one :D
