Ive ordered and built a 3d mech squonker but im looking for tips on home to make/place a circular dimple so to speak in the contacts ive made.
Some of the batteries ive got have rather thick sleeves on them and dont always make proper contact with my negative contact ive made.
My soloution to this would be to make a raised dimple just near the centre of where the battery and contact should meet.

Ive used 0.7mm copper and have a limited number of hand tools at my disposal

have alook on eday or the web in general for dimple pliers sure you could pick up a pair for a few quid :2thumbsup:

What about a hammer and nail/screwdriver, lay the copper down on a flat soft wood and gently tap the nail/screwdriver with the hammer on the reverse side of where you want the dimple gently until your sorted [emoji4]

Use a piece of wood, a domed screw (or anything metal with a rounded end) and a hammer
To make it easier put a hole in the hood if you can, a bit bigger than the screw head, then use the hammer to hit the screw head against the copper on top of the wood.

Or you can get dimple plier cheap online.

Edit beaten by a minute

I used the blunt/chuck end of an old 5mm drill bit, practised on an off cut first until i had the amount of force required dialled in then placed it on a bit of wood and gave it a wallop with a hammer.

Having now read this thread i have just learnt about dimple pliers though, so next time i may try those!

It would appear the safest option is to pick up a pair of Dimple Pliers, where as the cheapest option is find a metal circular rod i.e a screw or old drill bit and give it a good whack placed on a scrap peice of wood.
I think i may go for the safest option as no doubt i will probably end up making a few more contacts as replacements or for new mods.

got set of 7mm dimple pliers and they work a treat, the next set of contacts i make i may try just flattening the center slighty after making the dimple just to increase the surface area making contact with the battery
