Hi @vapesourcing1 I have a question which i will be asking overseas vendors. Could you tell me and the rest of the forum. If we make a purchase do Vapesourcing take 20% VAT and pay it to UK customs.
The reason for this question is another company who use the forum had all their UK parcels seized and destroyed for not adhering to the new customs rules in both the UK and the EU. The new UK rules mean 20% vat is payable on the cost of goods and shipping which must be collected by the vendor at point of sale.
If you had made an anouncement previously i must have missed it but if not can you make it clear to us UK folk who may be thinking of making a purchase or just want to know for a later date.
Thanks for your time.

Matt

Thank you for your question and sorry for the late reply.Uk is not part of the EU and therefore does not pay the 20% VAT.

That's good.

Completely and utterly wrong though.

Is this a mistranslation?

got this from HMRC website :
Consignments of goods with a value of £135 or less that are outside the UK and sold directly to customers (not through an online marketplace) in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) will have UK supply VAT charged at the point of sale

@vapesourcing1 you are wrong UK is also taking the VAT at the point of sale. You must comply in order for your goods to be allowed into the UK. Another Vendor had all their UK parcels destroyed and now does the right thing and takes the VAT. In order for your company to sell anything to us you must get in touch with UK customs and set up your VAT payments, no one is buying from vendors who don't take the VAT as we know the goods won't make it through customs. So please sort this, it can only work in your favour, that's if prices still compete with UK and other vendors.
And please don't say we are wrong we are from the UK and know our rules.

This is a tricky area - all sorts of different rules depending on if its a business to customer transaction or business to business transaction and also consignment value.
I wouldn't want to be doing their VAT return !!! :(

As a UK customer buying from outside of GB I would expect (as an individual) to be paying the VAT due at the point of sale as part of the sale price. ...I think.
