Vamo v5 and iclear 30s problem with taste?

Thanks for looking at my post. I recently bought an iiclear 30s for my vamo v5, filled it with 70/30 apple and black currant and left the wicks to soak. The ohm is showing 2.1 and I started vaping at 3.5 volts. I got really good flavour and vapour but after a while I'm getting either a burnt or oily taste. Now it doesn't matter what I vape at I'm getting an awful taste. I tried a new coil and getting exactly the same taste. It lessens to some degree at 3 volts but surely I can vape higher than that? Can anybody help me please?

I was having the same problem, same set up iClear 30 and Vamo V5. Tried loads of juices but couldn't vape above about 7 Watts (not sure what that is in volts) . Tried new coils but still made no difference. Sorry I don't have an answer but its not just you having that problem .

Thanks for the reply, glad I'm not the only one. This is the iclear 30s dual coil I'm using. What I've done is taken a spare and rinsed it in near boiling water and hair dried it. Refilled and the plastic taste is still there but not as bad as before. Do these need a while to break in?

Just a thought, with the v5 if you press and hold the left button for about 10 seconds does it do anything? RMS or does it just show the voltage and nothing else?

I get the option of rms or mean. I've been told mean isn't safe so been using rms. no bad taste up 3.2 volts, not much vapor though. Pump up the volts get tons of good vapor but a funky taste. Maybe it's because it's a 2.1 ohms and 3.2 is the safest voltage? I'm relatively new to this so bear with me!

Thats ok then keep it on RMS my v5 it set to RMS only, some v5 you can change it,just thought you might be on the mean mode, not good

I know that taste you mean its rank, its not the silicon cap pushed down to far on the coil is it? that can taste bad.
I use i clear 16 dual coil 2.1 ohms at 9w on my vamo every day and it vapes like a pro, but I remove the standard silica wicks and replace them with cotton wool wicks last for weeks on the same cotton never a dry hit, not as tight, tons better vaper, and great taste, way better than the standard silica IMO.
never replaced any coils for the past 3 month seem like they last forever.
they are all i will use now, i tried a lot, I always got a rank taste from most of the botton feed coils i have tried in the past.
you could try a new coil but the i16 cotton is a winner on my vamo.

I haven't tried cotton in a Iclear, Looks like I'll be trying something out on the Iclear.

I'm using a Vamo V5 and the I-30s.
I vape at 3.8v and my fruit mix dekang juice is yummy.
Maybe its the juice your using, can you try the juice in another system?

Good luck

That in itself is comforting for me to know. It seems different people vape with so many different variations it's one hell of a learning curve. I've spent a lot of money finding my perfect vape and bought tons of new kit only to revert back to my evod. You watch YouTube videos of guys cranking it up to 11 with plumes of vapid fogging the screen. At the end of the day it's all down to you to discover what's best, I'll settle with my vamo and iclear and move on instead of searching for the next big hit.

Idk how they do it in those videos either but I've got an aspire natulilus on my tesla mod and i can't vape above 3.6 volts without having a strange taste come thru. ...so I think thats about as high as any of them will go!
