Afternoon all, my V5 has finally threaded and will no longer latch onto any atty I try to screw in. Thought it wouldn't happen to me as I was always careful but it has, bollocks.

I've heard about people replacing the top cap but
A. I have no idea where I could find one to buy anddd
B. How do I replace it?

I've usually found with things like this it's never as simple as it seems which would I assumed would be pulling the current top cap out, resoldering/attaching the wires onto the new cap and stuffing it back in.. Does anyone know of any picture guides or tutorials from people who have done this before?

I want to fix it just so I can sell it really, it doesn't get used anymore since I started buying mechs and now sits on my shelf as a 'posh battery voltage meter'. Think it's time to give it a bit of TLC and find it a new home :)

yeah be careful with this. I gave mine to someone on the forums to fix, seemed like an easy enough job. Week later he was buying me a new vamo. There are screw on extenders of various shapes and sizes, as long as there's enough thread left to take it.

zac62 thanks for those links mate, will be buying one this weekend and giving it a bash.
stayinwonderland I have though about just selling it on for someone with experience to fix, but the way I see it is I can sell it for more money if its in working condition. And if I didn't fix it, it would just sit on my desk gathering dust irking me that I have a 50 quid mod I can't do anything with lol. I'm gonna take the gamble and hopefully learn a bit more about regulated mods in the process. Not that I'm planning on building something with a DNA board in the near future or anything ;)

Should be some tutorials some where on the net (google) good luck.
