Do not use de-ironised water. Get normal distilled water.

How come? My google searches seemed to come up with both de-ironised and distilled being used an similar amount. Where could I find distilled water? Boots looked at me like I was crazy.

De-ionised is filtered, not heated or distilled, so could potentially, and probably does contain microorganisms of some kind, it would be put in unsterilized containers and stored as an industrial product, not a food.

Isn't it for irons car battery's and the like so you don't get lime scale not realy human consumption

i just scraped the frosty stuff off the roof of the freezer...
As getting distilled proved problematic.
If it had been anything but crystal clear when thawed out id have flushed it.

Boil the kettle and catch the steam with a jug over the top and a bowl under it to catch the drips... The water that drips out is distilled water.

That's the way to do it.
