Vaporesso Revenger Fire button problems

The shop is legally obligated to follow the law in providing warranty, any goods purchased in the UK entitle you to minimum of (i think) 1 year(regardless of what the manufacturer offers), especially when it comes to electronics and i think you'd be hard-pressed to not classify a mod as a type of electronical device. If you stand you ground with the shop and suggest you may just have to take it up with trading standards, they might offer to do a bit more.

If you're not comfortable with the idea of causing a stink though, watch the christmas deals and snag something nice in the sales instead.

Sort of, although it's not technically a warranty...

Well, no...

Any fault that develops within the first 6 months is assumed to be a defect that was present at time of purchase, so is automatically covered.

After 6 months, it becomes the responsibility of the customer to prove the fault was present at time of purchase.

A warranty is a completely separate entity to "satisfactory quality".

A warranty would maybe cover a failure after 10 months, but (unless you can prove the fault was present when you bought it) you don't actually have much in the way of legal recourse after 6 months.

Well as I have found the Legal Guarantee is worth very little after 6 months as the retailer always has a get out with asking you to prove it was a fault to start with as this is near impossible!
Even if you find a shop willing to inspect it for you the retailer has no obligation to accept the opinion of the 3rd party and is free to tell you to take them to court.
For me I was looking at it more from the point of view of Satisfactory Quality as in the sources I have read it seems to imply durability is a valid point, surely the main button on a device failing in under 1 yr without evidence of misuse shows the products lack of durability thus entitling me to a repair/replacement or possible partial refund.
However the shop is not looking like they agree, I actually knowingly paid more for the product a good 25% more than online naively believing should I have an issue they would sort it, from now on I will just take my chances buying online as it is a lot cheaper and the after sales can't be any worse than the high street from my experience with my local vape shop

It just sounds like the microswitch is buggered, the auto firing is from it not releasing / springing back, take it apart to see what switch it is and solder in a new one, if you are lucky it's a standard switch you should be able to find.

You've got nothing to loose if you can't get a refund or repair so worth a go.

This is what I will most likely do just annoying having to repair myself when really the switch should last it is a fairly fundamental part of the vape afterall

Not necessarily.

A normal tactile smd switch would be rated for say 50,000 actuations.

Long life, 100-200,000.

It's probably a standard one...

So, 5 clicks to turn off, 5 clicks to turn off, 3 clicks to get into settings, clicks to scroll or select.

And that's all before you actually take a puff on it...

I (apparently) take like 1-200 puffs a day - so that'd be an expected lifespan of 250-500 days, just on that.

Add in the turning on and off, changing settings, rapid click to check battery level (and the fact that 200+ is probably more like my usage) and yeah.

Lucky to get 6 months...

If that really is the case there is surely an argument for it not being fit for purpose in the first place should at least have a 1 yr lifespan minimum not like it is advertised as a budget mod if anything they advertise it as a premium product

Maybe, maybe not.

First thing you'd have to do is ascertain whether it's actually the switch that has failed - and it would also have to be shown that there's never been any fluid ingress (water, juice, whatever).

Then, you'd have to find the specs from the switch manufacturer - and assume you're within that figure.

Then, you'd have to show that the mod manufacturer had knowingly selected an inappropriate switch - as in that the manufacturer knew the average vaper is likely to hit that button more.

So, say you got documentation to show that vaporesso considered 100,000 clicks per year to be average and they still specifically chose a 50k switch.

After all that, you might have a case.

But then a perfectly valid defence would be "we aim this product at the mid-premium market, where most users would have this as a second or even third device showing commensurately lower use with greater care".

I know it's annoying, but I honestly think you're into a loser with this.

I've bought all my vape stuff (including the battery charger) on the premise it's a 6 month device - a failure within that time and it gets sorted one way or another - any life past 6 months is a bonus because trying to get a fix done after that just isn't worth the hassle.

In all honesty, the revenger is like 60 quid for the kit - that's nowhere near a premium price tag.

As a 6 month device, it's a tenner a month - and you've had 4 extra months as a bonus.

Sadly micro-switches wear and the rate they churn these out QC of the switch can just be bad luck, I have 2 mods with micro switches that have lost their strength (neither are Smok for the record).

I have a 10 pack of 12mm switches, out of curiosity I just checked the click action and 2 were softer.

If it is the fire button switch you should be able to source one, I'm fixing one for a friend that uses tiny buggers and hoping these do the job:

Out of interest how does the fire button feel? clicky or spongy?

The fire button is nice and clicky it feels great but it just does not operate properly sometimes it doesn't fire other times it can just be sitting on the table and fire of its own accord very strange
