Wattage selection for TC

I'm curious to know how others decide the best watts/joules setting for their TC builds, especially those using SS316 & NiFe30. I tend to start low and increase bit by bit until the ramp-up time is reasonably short, monitoring the displayed wattage as I fire the coil(s). Overly agressive "watt attack" seems to provide no beneficial advantage and contributes to unnecessary battery drain. Having said that, I'm a flavour monkey who neither needs nor seeks the "hit" that seems to be the holy grail for others. What do y'all do with your set-ups?

Pretty much the same here. If using SS Claptons I may bump it up a little over 29 gauge NiFe30 but then again I sometimes prefer a slightly slower ramp up and sometimes I like an instant hit. Pretty much always in the 40-55 watt range though.

Reckon my builds demand about the same, although I'm finding that the genesis atties like the Avocado and the Theorem benefit from a little extra oomph. I've been trying out notch coils for the first time - much lower wattage and brilliant in my Theorem, but not so impressive in my other atties with a build deck large enough to house them. Mind you, it's early days in the experimentation…

I tend to start with watts around the point I would vape non-TC and adjust from there.

I MTL and keep the watts really low as I also vape fairly low temperatures, between 390 and 420 F. I'm normally only at around 15 watts or joules and the coils still hit temp quicker enough for me.

I also keep preheat either off or very low when using mods that do it.

I've got a couple that don't allow much adjustment of the watts, just stick out their maximum or close to it and I really don't enjoy this for MTL, OK for DTL when I occasionally indulge though!

Much of this depends on what device you are using, but the ideal setting is just enough wattage to reach and maintain the "Temperature Protected" message, anything more is pointless and will not be used, as once the temp limit is reached the device will cut back the power output to maintain a stable temp. Pre heat is a personal matter and depends entirely on ho quickly you want the vape to heat up...

monitoring the displayed wattage as I fire the coil(s).

I generally set the wattage approx 50% higher than the wattage the device levels off at during the vape. Depending on the build and atty, this is anywhere from 20-60W.
