What am I doing wrong? (RTA wicking)

I vape 6ml nic and if I go over 50 watts on any atty it spins me out.
Taken 2 years and about 10 wasted dual coil atty to find my sweet spot

My cotton keeps burning 5-8minutes on average into a vaping session. Literally just put a new cotton in about 10 mintues ago and now I'm on my last strip of cotton ffs. I'm on the verge of throwing all of this vape shit out of the window and moving on with my life vape free because this is ridiculous, nothing ever works in my favour vape wise...

Let me put it this way.. I spend more time re-wicking then actually vaping.

I'm on a Serpent Mini RTA.. maybe I just don't get along with the RTA itself?
I mean I'm guessing it's not really an option but... using stock coils whatever the downsides sounds a whole lot better than spending more time rewicking than vaping!

1 to many watts
2 juice is to thick ie high vg
3 to much wick

It will be either 1 or 3 imo i have a serpent mini and have never had such problems, i use it at under 35w depending on the build. don't pack the slot for the wick and as said start at around 20w and increase till you feel its at the sweet spot. Get some 26 gauge ni80 wire 7 wrap coil at 25-35w max

1. I never go more than 18watts
2. It's 70VG/30PG juice but isn't an RTA meant to handle high VG juices better than stock coils?
3. I've tried too much wick, little wick, different angles etc etc but same outcome.

I have a 0.7 coil on here.. got the airflow usually half closed and vape at 15watt-ish.

Post some pics of your deck/build, otherwise we're just pissing in the wind.
Funny thing is this motherfucker hasn't acted up on me since I made this thread.. I don't want to mess it up by opening it up again. I will show you my build next time it fails on me.

It's gone to the point that I can't leave my house without a pair of scissors and the remaining sheet of cotton that I have..

Out of sheer frustration I have ordered some Cotton Bacon v2 as opposed to the ones I've been using for months

If anyone wanted to know what cotton I've been given..

@Vlaqko sorry i couldn't identify the problem you have been experiencing. It sounds like something strange is going on with something, maybe the tank has a fault it could but i doubt it be the mod you use it wih but i guess you have used the serpent mini on a few mods. The one issue i have found with the tank is the coil can slip out of place so it might be better to use flat wire, other than that i am stuck with any further ideas.:)

I don't make my own coils, they are premade so maybe the quality of the coils could actually play a factor.. but you lost me when you meant flat wire as I'm not that deep into it with all the terminology etc.. I guess if you can point me to the right direction for a flat wire premade coil that would be very beneficial.

Do you think ramp up time could be playing a factor in this too? I think a 0.7ohm coil is for 20w or something and I often find myself inhaling more than it can produce

Ok Flat wire is basically just as described instead of being circular in shape it is flat, so sort of like a strip .sometimes it is referred to as ribbon wire. I have no idea where to get premade as i just make coils from scratch. Plus i guess you may really need some more suited to MTL vaping. so @Smut would be your man to speak to. If you are using Kanthal wires then the ramp up is slow so you may find some Ni80 or stainless steel better.

Just a question,

You are using premade coils. Are you making sure they are bedded in properly to make sure they are glowing evenly from the centre outwards before you wick them?

I only ask because if you had a hotspot in your coil, where one place is glowing a lot hotter than the rest of the coil, it could cause the symptoms you describe.

That's a very interesting approach to my situation.. what do you exactly mean by 'bedded'? I haven't really paid attention to the glowing evenly but I will assume it is centre outwards. If I were to have this 'hotspot' on my coil, how would I get rid of it?

I no longer have any cotton for another build and I can already taste the 'burnt' taste so within 30 minutes it will burnt out then I'll check the glow thingy.. so annoying that I can almost accurately calculate when it's going to fully burn out.

To be honest Cotton Bacon isn't the easiest for a beginner. Your local vape shop will almost certainly have cotton pads, Muji or similar, if you're really stuck. I use the pads & in over 2 years never experienced an issue, unless it was an error on my part.
1 pad will give you at least 4 wicks based on coils 3mm dia & will be more consistent.
If as said you're not glowing your coils before wicking then you won't see hotspots, uneven glow so that's where to begin.
