What coils should I buy for my Zlide tube? (for 70/30 liquid)

I made my first vape purchase recently and have been enjoying it (other than the black paint peeling off the tank). It's a Zlide tube starter kit, which means I can't alter the wattage. It came with a 0.48 and 1.2 coil. I bought a 70/30 (6mg) liquid and have been under the impression a sub-ohm coil will handle the thicker liquid. It tasted great for the first 3 days but now most of the flavor is gone (not sure if it's burnt out yet. I primed and let it sit before using) and I'm wondering which coils I should order. I'm not using it very heavily, maybe once every 30-60 minutes. Even if your conclusion is the liquid or kit is bad, could I get a recommendation for when I purchase a pack of coils? From what I've read it seems like the .8 is good for the 70/30 liquid I have. And that above 1ohm coils get burnt out or can't handle higher vg. I'd rather not chuck the 60ml of liquid (that I enjoy the taste of, and have no idea what other flavors to try). I could try to find a 50/50 in the future if that's a better solution.

Also, I've seen the Zlide tank called a sub-ohm tank. Even if I used a coil that's not sub-ohm like a 1.6, could I use nic salts? Or is the design of the tank going to make nic salts too strong/harsh?

Hello @MR C and welcome to POTV :)

I've noticed a few comments on here and elsewhere online that the 0.48 ohm coils don't last as long as the others. Also if you have a very sweet liquid then that can have an influence.

The Zlide Tube will give a maximum of 16W with anything lower than a 1.0 ohm coil so it won't be chucking clouds with it and it won't be the power burning the coils.

IMO the Zlide is more suited to MTL so 50%VG or 60%VG is ideal but it should handle 70%VG.

Sub Ohm doesn't necessarily mean a DTL vape.
I have two Zlide Tanks that I use as MTL with the 1.6 ohm coil. You may be able to get a restricted DTL but I've not tried.

Nic Salts will be fine. I'd use use the 1.6 ohm coil. Others may disagree.

If it'll help you decide I can post you, free of charge, a 1.6 ohm coil to try. Send me a PM if you want one.

Good luck.

You are overthinking this, and reading too much into phrases like 'sub-ohm'

This is all the coils available for the Zlide.

back to your issue..... I think 50/50 will work better.

a drop off in flavour after a few days vaping isn't uncommon though, especially with higher VG, overly sweetened and sometimes just darker more gunky liquids. I'd suggest trying a different liquid range or flavour and see if it improves.

you can try salts, personally I hate them... it's just something you'll have to try.

Similar to Simon above flavour can drop off after a few days and it's not necesarilly always the coil's fault. Sometimes you just get used to the juice and need a different flavour to kick start your tastebuds again. I get this a lot with strawberry juices and I vape them all the time.

Sometimes a new coil will be great for 3 or 4 days then the flavour drops off a little but the coil is still fine to vape on. It's up to you when you want to change it, either when the flavour drops, when the vapour production gets less or when it's burnt tasting. I tend to change mine when the vapour drops off and before it gets burnt.

50/50 juice will help with the flavour a little but I find most stock coils are ok with 70/30 juice unless you're hitting the vape constantly so that the wicking can't keep up and the cotton gets burnt.

With salts you can use them on anything if you want. They're just smoother at higher nicotine levels so a lot of people use them with higher ohm coils like the 1.6 so as not to get nicotine sick. They won't be harsh and it's not the tank/pod that affects them. I was vaping 15mg salts at 45w till recently with no issues but I have a very very high nicotine tolerance, most people would get sick off of that.

Some people don't get on with salts at all and find the taste horrible as they do have a different taste to normal nicotine. I pretty much only vape salts now myself but that's just my preference.
