What have I got?

Hi guys!

New vaper here and loving it!

I purchased the eGo-GT kit, which has 850mha batteries and 3ml clearomisers. My problem is I want to purchase some smaller capacity clearomisers so I can try out a few flavours and nicotine strengths etc, but I am not sure what I am looking for. Having Googled what I can and asked around I have gotten very confused to say the least! Hopefully someone can assist...

1. Basically what do I have with the eGo-GT as regards a CE code? What does it mean?

2. What terminology am I looking for as regards the equipment I already have? I am assuming I have rebuildable clearomisers at present, but don't really know!

3. I am also assuming the bit that screws into the bottom of the tank is an atomiser. Is that correct? Do I need to buy both or do they come as one unit?

4. Asking about, I am told that I cannot use my batteries with a smaller tank as this will burn out the atomiser (excuse terminology if I have it wrong!). Is this correct or mis-information? ie do I need to go and purchase a smaller capacity battery to use with smaller capacity tanks?

5. My current batteries are approx 2+cm in diameter, so will they work with smaller units if the connection is the same (and what is that connection called?). Anything extra I would need to purchase?

6. As regards eliquids, do I use (for equipments' sake) a higher PG ratio so its a thinner liquid?

Apologies for these questions! I have tried to do my homework but I have just ended up confused, especially as I cannot find much info on the eGo-GT!

Thanks in advance for any assistance :)

Oof... it's late but I'll give your questions my best shot :)

1. Erm :) I'm not sure I follow you

2. I wouldn't touch rebuildables just yet. If you want to try new flavours then my best advice would be to find a bricks and mortar store, they're always helpful and will usually let you try loads until you find one you like. A word of caution though, sonething that tastes great after a couple of tokes will not necessarily be that great after a while, finding your all-day-vape will come with time. This may not make sense now, but it will. Other than that if there are no stores near you then I found the wee thin kanger 1.0ml clearomisers to be great value for money when trying tons of new liquids. Especially if you don't want to get into recoiling just yet, otherwise the octopus mini is GREAT for quick tastes, wash dry and repeat.

3. Ok, for you, right now, it's best to think of your device as a battery and an atomiser (of some sort) this can be an actual atomiser (with cartridges or direct drip), a cartomiser (contains wadding), a clearomiser (clear tank with wick). There are literally 1000's of combinations. Start simple and work up and you will find your preferred gear sooner rather than later. A lot of people like the EVOD's. I've never tried them and you can get them pretty cheap, but as I said the Kanger 1.0ml thin clearos are great value when you're experimenting.

4. I'm not sure I follow, maybe you're referring to the resistance. Okay... all these 'atomisers' have a heating element, or coil. Basically.... the lower the ohms/resistance, the hotter it gets at say 3.7 volts. I'm not sure if an ego-gt is variable voltage or not, again... probably best not starting out at variable voltage, that's my personal opinion. So some low resistance coils will pop if you throw too much power through them >_< I don't think you have too much to worry about if you stick to any clearomiser type on your ego. I personally always went for the low resistance clearos on my non variable voltage devices to get more vapour and satisfaction from my vape.

5. The connection is a 510 Ego connection, you can use any 510 type tank/clearo/carto on it, but the ones especially designed for ego fittings will look better.

6. Higher PG = thinner yes, I wouldn't drop below 70/30 on PG/VG in clearos as depending on which ones you have, some in my experience have difficulty sucking up thicker eliquid with a higher VG ratio.

I hope I haven't made the situation worse :D

Bottom line, find a friendly actual store and go wild with flavour tasting, if not grab a selection of neat sounding juices and a bunch of cheap clearos, don't worry about it, experiment to your hearts content and everything will work out fine. Then the fun really begins!

I've just ordered these from FastTech:

5 of them cost £7 (discount for buying a few). They don't look to be branded, but at that price they were worth trying out. It'll provide a small, discreet unit with a 450mah battery and I can ring the changes with flavours.

CE4s hold 1.6ml, though I've had mixed results with different vendors (it's been suggested that the poorer performance was due to higher resistance, but vendors often don't list the resistance on these).

The Kanger Evod holds 1.5ml, and I love this on the ego - even at 2.5ohm head (I have 1.8ohm spares, but not tried them yet).

I mix my own juice and quickly settled on a 50/50 - I find standard 70/30 or 80/20 too harsh, and haven't had any problems with the clearomisers that I'm satisfied with (not sure if the viscosity made a difference with the CE4s that were low on vapour)
