Your buggered aluminium clone

Someone out there must have one where the threads are all stripped and it's just collecting dust because it's good for nothing now.

I want it.

I've got a stainless steel Vmax that is royally fooked and in pieces. Any good? :D

It's the electrics that are fooked. The case is luverrrley...

Thanks mate but it's just the ally I'm looking at.

I have some kit sent to me to replace the bugggered 510 connections after the ally thread strips and need to practise drilling out the 510, using a tap to recoil and inserting the stainless housing/brass pin.

I want to see a)how easy it is to do and b)if it's worth the effort before suggesting it to people as a viable option for their ally mods.

I've got one head to practise on but could do with a few more to see how long it takes to get it spot on. Ideally you'd need a pillar drill, which I don't have immediate access to, so I'm going to be doing it by sight - but if that doesn't work then a trip to a toolshop in Leicester where I can use their kit will be called for. I need to get a 10.5mm tap into the bargain.

The price of the parts is minimal but the cost of the tools will come to more than a single clone from FT. If it's good it might be something someone fancies offering as a service, we'll have to see.

I'm guessing it would work for stripped stainless and brass threads too - but again it comes down to tooling and skills.
