What's new

Another COPD here after 50 years smoking

Just like to say a big thankyou to all who've replied and said hello.
Hi @Tom ex Rollies and welcome.
Is it one of these youre having trouble with?

Thanks for your reply Strawbwerry. No, the one's I have only have a teeny bit of cotton wool, about 3/4mm, sticking out of 4 holes . I've been used to the Aspire BVC (some call it wickless)

Who sold you the MVP 2? I'm concerned that there's a vendor out there exploiting inexperienced vapers by selling them very old stock.
Hi, Thanks for replying. I Got it here . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293150079124 The seller has over 55,000 sales with 100% positive feedback and I bought it mainly for the bigger battery, so I thought it'd be OK.
The battery also fits the K1 tank's which I'd been using with old batteries I inherited from my Ex.
Agreed squire. The MVP is very old kit indeed, but it looks as if its working for Tom. Unfortunately the more mainstream Vaping becomes the more unscrupulous sellers will arise. Always been a dark side to the community unfortunately.

However, @Tom ex Rollies you could upgrade to another far more responsive and reliable setup for sub £15. A setup that old was geared towards a time when e juice was pretty much water in its viscosity - what you've got will be thicker, hence its most likely struggling.
Ecigone and Grey Haze both have numerous options. Holla of you need a hand finding them and well done on your first 10 days. [emoji106]
Hi, Thanks for taking the time to reply. Yeah , still very much still a novice with all this. As I said above I inherited (from my Ex) a Smok battery (the kind that looks as if there's 2 AA batteries inside) and K1 and similar tanks that take the Aspire BVC coils (some state it's Wickless though I get that there must be some cotton wool inside). The other was an "Itazte VV" squarish shape ,with variable power and voltage which I preferred. I was just going to get another one of those but after a google for it I saw this bigger battery so that's how I ended up having this slightly new style coil. At the time in my naïvety didn't think much about the 2.1ohms . I've just tried it with a 1.8 but not sure about the taste, maybe the plastic drip mouthpiece, I prefer the stainless steel ones
I'm now using the battery with mostly K1's and so far so good.

I think I would say that I'm definitely a MTL kind of guy. Smoking a Vape like a joint really doesn't appeal to me at all but other Vape kits all seem to have the different tube like mouthpieces.
I suppose I'll plod on with the K1's and Aspire BVC, especially since I have 5 tanks . It's now a full 2 weeks off the Cancer Sticks and if you'd told me that 4 weeks ago I wouldn't have believed you. I'm 63 and been smoking since I was 13 (round about the time I watched the 1st moon landing lol)
If you have any links for future that'd be great but I suppose I'm not in any great hurry. But cheers for your reply. I appreciate it Cheers , Tom

Hi @Tom ex Rollies and welcome to the planet.
congratz on the 10 days so far.
there sure is a lot to take in and its a whole new language but you will pick it up quite quickly.
and most importantly is no question is a silly question when it comes to vape so never be afraid to ask. weve saved a few faces being blown of in the past.

i dont know this kit so cant help much there but im thinking 70vg is way too thick for a 2ohm coil and even the 1.8ohm coils will struggle big time and burn out very quick.

high ohm coils like the ones you have are best with 50vg/50pg juice
its been a long time but as far as i can remember 1.2ohm coils can handle 70vg just.

the easiest way to remember it is the higher the number coil
the higer the nicotine which can be used
the thinner the juice needs to be
the lower the wattage/voltage

thicker juice like 70vg is best with higher wattage subtanks which are direct to lung inhale tanks (like a bong if you ever dabbled) with lower ohm coils like 0.7, 0.5, 0.25, 0.2ohm and used at much higher wattage average 40-100watts but these ned much lower nicotine and the norm is 3mg.

you can find a 50/50 juice list on post 7 of this thread POTV Vendors & Recommended E Liquid Suppliers
Hi Mr DJ, Sorry, maybe didn't write correctly but I've been using 70% PG and 30% VG mix . The Aspire BVC 1.8 coils are OK in a K1 tank. Thanks for taking the time to reply and the extra info. Cheers , Tom

Actually just found this one https://www.ecigone.co.uk/e-cig-kits/regular-kits/aspire-zelos-50w-2-0-kit-with-nautilus-2s-tank
Must admit it looks good with big battery :) . Could you tell me would this be OK for the 70% PG 30% VG tobacco/RY4 mixes I've been using and is the Wattage control the same as the Power control button on my Itazte and Innokin. Many thanks , Tom

@Tom ex Rollies Hi mate I did some research on the Aspire Zelos 50W 2.0 Kit with Nautilus 2S Tank a few weeks ago when looking for a kit for my wife, 70/30 juice will work fine and the Nautilus 2S Tank comes with 2 coils - 0.4ohm - 23 to 28W and 1.8ohm - 9 to 13W BVC coils DTL / MTL and you would adjust the wattage according to the coil installed.

More info > www.aspirecig.com/aspire-kits/aspire-kits543.html

Just a note the kit has a fixed battery so when the battery dies the Mod dies

Ah Cheers for the Info :) Yeah , I also watched a humorus review from someone in my native tongue, though after 25yrs in London and 17yrs here in Cardiff my accent has mellowed somewhat now :) And well done with the 60 odd days off the fags :)

The Aspire coils are not wick-less. They are wicked internally with cotton. Your clearomizer is almost certainly using silicone wicks (albeit very short) which, as others have mentioned, is very old school. They do work as I quit using something similar; the Blu Pro. But vaping has come a long way since then.

Buy the Zelos kit. It will be a night and day difference.
