Sorry I can't link to this story, but just in the car & heard on BBC radio merseyside news that the number of vapers has tripled in the last 2 years to 2.1 million & Ash say that ecigs are helping smokers quit and are not acting as a gateway to tobacco.

At last, some good publicity.

ASH has always been... a little pro ecig, but I think their stance started changing more once they realized that going anti wasn't going to be a good thing for them. It probably helps that one of their ex directors is totally pro ecig :)

Theyre still calling for "Light touch" regulation which is what they think the TPD did :(

The "Tobacco control community" knows full well that the rising popularity of a product that could destroy the popularity of lit Tobacco could well put them out of a Job.

They have succeeded in demonising Tobacco smokers so, surly, their job is done now.
But, no, they need a new target to keep themselves in a job, so they move on to demonising ecigs with the same old, tired, think of the children claptrap.

I don`t see anyone trying to ban Iron Bru flavoured Vodka.

They've been crying about alcho-pops for years though, using the think of the children excuse though someone should have told them by now that alcohol isn't actually meant to be sold to kids.

Oh, the promotion of unhealthy adult activities to children is epitomised by pubs actively marketing to families, with government approval.
If we were trying to discourage kids from taking up alcohol, we wouldn't allow kids meals, colouring in books and playgrounds to be provided in pubs.
