Battery care

Also you should be able to just scan that qr code next to the 16 digit number with your phone and a qr scanner app, that will validate aurlthenticity too

I tried that. It just takes me to the Nitecore website. andipandi has authenticated the charger, so not to worry :)

https://charger.nitecore.com/validation#:~:text=Our authentic validation system is now available since, verification code to visit on your mobile phone)

select newi2 from the product number drop down menu, its next to bottom of list not alphabetically. the enter validation code from box

It's unfortunate, but I wouldn't take it personally about the cells.

The shops buy from wholesalers, who tell them specs that the shops usually take at face value - technical knowledge is rare, despite how it appears talking to a bunch of vape nerds on here ;)

It's highly likely they've sold loads of those cells and nobody has had a problem at all - the standard usage profile would be very unlikely to stress them to failure. But the possibility exists and imo it's not worth the gamble now you know.
Well I know now and I'm so glad I joined here. Also pretty chuffed that I asked for help, I don't usually

I was brave and headed to my vape shop with batteries and it was closed. I'll try again tomorrow

Just to summarise the basic battery safety bollocks in one place:
  1. a) Don't ever carry loose, always either in a mod, or in one of those plastic containers*
    b) Ensure the battery "wrap" (plastic casing) is intact and not torn or damaged in any way

  2. a) Make sure your charger is a reputable brand
    b) Don't leave batteries in your charger overnight (even though this is safe in theory, it's a good safety precaution - shit goes wrong sometimes)

  3. a) Make sure the A rating of batteries are suited to the wattage you vape at (higher A rating needed for higher watts)
    b) Be wary of inaccurate A ratings. I can't believe it's not illegal to misrepresent them, but many do**

* Because a piece of metal - e.g. a bunch of keys in your pocket) could touch it and cause it to discharge

** There is a dude called Mooch who is a battery testing legend. If somebody quotes a "mooch rating" at you, you can take it as gospel.
