Right my first proper post on here so here goes.

I started vaping just over a week ago and up to now ive enjoyed the experience. I was a heavy smoker before i started vaping. I went out and i bought a starter kit from e-vape. I got the ego CE5 v2 kit and at first everything was going well. Until just under a week had past and i started getting a burning taste vhen vaping (guessing the head had gone) so i changed to the 2nd clearomizer that came with the kit. been on this one for the last couple of days and all seems fine at the moment but after doing some research ive bit the bullet and bought a kanger protank which should be here middle of next week. So my first question is will the battery that i got with the kit EGO 650mAh[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif] battery be suffieient or should i be looking at getting one of the kanger evod batteries to run with the protank?

Sorry if this has been covered somewhere else but couldn't find anything in the search.

Essentially the batteries are exactly the same... what you want, will be the Ohms of the coil head (the bit that heats up the eliquiod) if your protank is about 1.8 it will run really well on the battery you have, even 2.0 ohms will be OK, but you will find with 2.4 ohms, the standard non Variable Voltage battery might not cut it.

I have a mini protank on an evod battery and it runs the same on my Ego battery

I tried my protank 2 ( head 2.5ohms ) on my 650 vv ego and had to ramp it up to highest voltage 4.2v and still not enough power for a decent vape

As far as im aware it comes as 2.5 ohm. may see how i get on next week and then see if i need to get a new battery. Can you recommend a good battery?

for a 2.5ohm coil, youre deffo going to need something with more punch, which leads you to either a variable voltage style Ego (Twists are pretty popular) or move onto bigger mods with Variable Voltage and/or wattage.

The next step up would be Variable Voltage (VV) batteries. You get ones which look similar to your existing eGo but have higher capacity and are longer, maybe a little fatter too. Have a look at Vision Spinner and eGo Twist (around £20 ish each). Both of these use the same charger you already have.

Or, if you're a serious vaper, get a Vamo kit from fasttech.com for about £30 and wait about a fortnight for it to sail in from China (or buy from UK supplier for about £50). They're much bigger and heavier than an eGo, but have VV and Variable Wattage (VW) built in, and also have a function for testing the resistance of your heads. They use separate batteries so you can swap them around when they run out. 92.6% of all serious vapers have at least one Vamo - they're a great, cheap, useful tool for using when size/weight isn't an issue.

You can also buy lower resistance heads for your Protank. A 1.8 ohm would transform your vape. You can also rebuild the Protank heads (and many others) yourself in you're good with your hands. Spending about a tenner would give you enough wire and wick to last maybe a year. There's plenty tutorials around too.

disclaimer...ok I made up the percentage of folks with a Vamo, but I bet I'm not far off.

Thanks for the informative post alan as im just starting out i will probably go for something like the twist and upgrade to something bigger and better as time goes. You say by reducing the resistance of the head it will transform the vape, what do you mean by this? (sorry but im only a noob to vaping)

right so just had a quick look and would this be one to try http://www.apolloecigs.co.uk/ego-variable-voltage-p/abegov.htm or am i no where near

Yes that's the type of thing. Haven't tried that particular brand personally but I have both a Spinner and a Twist and wish they had a way of telling what charge they had, which the one you linked to has. Get the big capacity one tho, you'll get bored with 650mAh very quickly. I'm not sure if you're aware of battery lingo but as a general rule 100mAh will last about an hour vaping, so your 650 will run out mid afternoon, where the 1200 will last all day.
