What's new

Bonjour from Glasgow. Need a bit of help using this I think

Thanks for all the reply’s & help everyone ! Going to look into an RDA then if it’s not actually for “sport use” lol. I went into Emporium Vapour last week to try out there liquids but wasn’t majorly keen. I’m using a Smok Alien 220TC just now (Baby beast coils) , as much as I think the kit is good I feel as if I can get better? That’s why I’m thinking of going for a RDA plus the better flavour seems to be drawing me that way. anyone recommend a Dripper I could go buy from the high street or am I better online?

Thanks

Hi @ChicoBenito1 and welcome to the forum.

Depending wherry you are in Glasgow you can try out these shops.

Prime Vapour - on union Street next to the gforce game store. He sells some clones and also some originals just be sure to check before buying. Guys are really good and offer loads of advice.

Vaporised - Also on Union Street next to the new Coffee place and the cathouse. It is what it is and not somewhere I would recommend as they will try and sell you everything and anything regardless of what you actually need.

Monkey Vape - think that's the name, also on Union Street.. just next to Cex the game trade place. It's an alright store but a bit limited in stock and it's run by a somewhat unscrupulous person so I generally stay clear.

Vape City - on Argyle Street under the bridge, have a good range of kit in and are really helpful but the two older staff members are not as know clued up as the younger guy so try and go in on a week night around 6pm as he is usually around.

The Vapour Lounge - on bothwell Street next to the burrito place... cracking store.and one of my fave hangouts during my lunch break. They offer really good advice and never push you into a sale. Will also help even if you didnt buy the kit from them.

Vaporeyes - on Vicki road and a cracking shop where the guys are all really knowledgeable, the punters in here can look Rough as fuck sometimes like out and out junkies buy they are all.sound and offer some great advice. Good range of kit on offer as well.

These are probably the main places for where you can buy an RDAS in a store in Glasgow and get good info. Hope it helps.

A search thro the bank balance decreasing site of shiny -https://www.fasttech.com/category/3028 ( if you do buy anything use the 'uk epacket option for postage!!) will be worth your time.
Go by the item reviews, if you see anything you like, find a youtube about it and see what is said.

smok tanks are not renowned for decent flavour, so you can for sure get better. Plenty decent drippers and rebuildable tanks out there for you to try.

But, afore we go any further, can you make yir own coils?

Hi @ChicoBenito1

I am a fellow Scottish vaper (Edinburgh) and just joined the forums. I made the switch over to RDA's a while ago. Tanks just weren't doing it for me. I second what @EmbraSewerRat said above. Can you make coils? RDA's need a little more investment i.e tool kit, ohm meter, cotton and not forgetting wire. This is usually only an initial investment apart from wire.

Another option is to buy pre-made coils. These can be picked up in some shops or online. They generally cost more than a spool of wire though. There are lots and lots of videos on YouTube on coil building and I am sure lots of people on here can help.

Hi everyone. @Fogster thanks for the tips and stores to visit I’ve not tried the vapour lounge yet. I’ve been avoiding Vaporised as much as possible as I don’t ever find them that helpful only maybe the odd few. I’ve been going into Vape Heaven on Dumbarton road for some Nasty Juice liquid which I’ve been trying out. I might go into vape city this week see what they have as I will be in Glasgow this week when I have a day off work. @EmbraSewerRat ... lol, I’ve never built one so probably not that’s where I’m lost and need the guidance I thought they came with the coil part and you bought the cotton for it? Is it difficult to build your own coils? When I first got the Smok kit I thought it was amazing but I’m bored now and really want to upgrade and I feel the flavour isn’t as good anymore. Hey @Marc_Ohms what RDA do you have? Does it make much difference making your own coils than buying ready made ones? Think I’m going to look into buying one this week as these tanks aren’t doing it for me anymore lol.

Welcome to POTV, I just joined too.

I haven't heard of sports drippers before but I'm using a royal hunter now and my juice has 3mg nicotine in it, never had a problem with that!

Hey @ChicoBenito1

Coil building can be simple if you want it to be or it can be very difficult. I started with simple 24 or 26 gauge Kanthal micro coils. I am no expert though but I do know the basics.

Pre made coil kits aren't that expensive to be honest. You can pick some of them up for under £10 and they usually have 48 coils in them which in theory should last a long time. Amazon is a good shout for these. If I am right in thinking, a good starter one is the pre made coil box by Demon Killer. It has some decent reviews on there. I would still say that learning to build coils is a good idea though. Even just basic micro coils.

In regards to RDA's, there are LOADS out there. With more coming out nearly every other day! As with pretty much everything in the vape world, a lot is down to personal preference and what you want out of it. Is it for clouds, is it for flavour etc...

To start with you want to get one that is easy to build on. I would probably suggest an RDA with a velocity deck. Probably one, if not the easiest deck to build coils on. And I wouldn't spend crazy money on one as it may not be for you. You can easily pick one up for £20, probably less.

For me at the moment I am currently using a couple in rotation. The Apocolypse by Armageddon MFG & Mesh RDA by Vandy Vape. I do have several others but these are ones used at the moment.

Hope that helps you out.

There is also a Vapour Lounge on Byres Road if that’s handier for you (across from Hillhead subway) and a few places in Patrick as well. And Vaping Caterpillar (I think it’s called) on Oswald Street in the city centre. The staff in there are pretty helpful.

@ChrisVS i think the “sport part” is just so say it’s not getting used with nicotine kind of thing. Keep them selfs right. @Marc_Ohms i thought the building my own coils would be hard or is it difficult just depending on what you want I take it? I think the pre made coils could be ideal for me so will look into the ones on amazon. As for using it I want some decent clouds but flavour as well I’m on a low nicotine 3mg so hopefully that doesn’t make to much difference. And thanks for all the recommendations it’s been a great help I will checking them all out just now. @zouzounaki thanks man I’m sure I pass that caterpillar shop at times so I know where you are will give them a shout for sure. I tried using Vapor Emporium stuff but it seemed as if the flavour didn’t last long I don’t know if that’s the coil or the liquids need steeped? I’ve been using a lot of Nasty Juice recently but have just noticed that Vape Club sell Ruthless Juice for way cheaper than Vaporised. Might start ordering from them I think.

Worth asking @Smut if you want decent coils ( and it stops you funding amazon!!) He will advise what is most useful to you depending on what kit you have.

The Emporium liquids, well, if you're buying the tpd stuff it should be mostly ripened, if it's the diy stuff, then it'll need a couple of weeks to mature. Depends on what flavours you've tried.

Coil making is like everything else in life - practice, practice and some more practice. Start off with say 0.5 and 0.4mm kanthal or SS, get a coil winder thingy off fast tech and some decent wire snips. Oh plenty cotton pads as well, then off you pop.
For fancier coils, well, a £15 drill fae B&Q, some really thin wire 0.1 or 0.08mm. And a metric fuck ton of patience. Plenty 'how to' on youtube.
