Boring coils vs fancy coils

Give it a go and find out....

Well yeah i could do i guess, but I'm more exploring the theory before i even consider wasting my time doing it, i don't mind the faff is there a point to the faffing!

I can't see how a pretty and intricate coil of hot wire can produce "better" flavour than a bog standard coil of hot wire, I've got no problem with being wrong, and if i am I'll happily give it a go, I'm just asking for opinions from people that have bothered to coil these fancy coils, do they actually improve flavour or is it just bolox?

I think a lot of the time people will claim anything is an improvement on the norm just to justify to themselves the time and effort they've just wasted.

"Claptons are amazing" / "tiger twists are sick as tits" / "wrapping anti clockwise will give better vapour production"

I had a go at twisting my own kanthal & then did a single coil build with it. Fucking shit ! Heats up too slow & there's more coil to get clogged. Pile of dead rats.

Function over form.
Tried em pain in the arse to build pain in the arse to clean up. Bog standard spaced coils for me.
What was that line from lock stock.
Guns for show knives for a pro.

Far too.much FAFF for me .did try twisting once .no major improvement .so back to dual plain coils @ approx 0.9/1.2 ohms not really bothered what they come out at as long as they heat up equally ....

Twisted coils are a good way to use up wire you find too thin.
You also get the excitement of not knowing quite what resistance you will end up with.

Hmm, flat earthers...

Why drink Stella or tennants when there is Innis and Gunn or Joker IPA?
Why just fry a steak and serve with chips when you can have slow cooked shin of beef with butter beans, creamy garlic mash and asparagus?

I'm sure there are technical explanations of why 'fancy' coils might be better - more surface area is often mentioned. But for me, with certain flavours, certain 'flash' coils seem to work better. Tobbacos with a twisted coil gives a richer, deeper flavour, Custards on a clapton make it more dense and rounded. It might be psychological, it could be that for once my expectations are almost being met. Or I may just enjoy fannying around making something functional and kinda pretty.

Try it or don't.

Fair play mate. My own endevours are hardly conclusive.

I think the technical explanations is what the op wants.
I also think he should give it a go if he is interested because as vapers when it gets down to the nitty gritty we don't half talk a load of pish. You really have to try things for yourself.

Not sure a scientific answer will ever be available (get mythbusters involved). Its all "subjective"

My favourite function over form vape, as thats what counts is dual coil over a 2.4 bit, 7/8 wraps to about .4ohms. Seems to be heaven. That or about .9 in a tank i find i get the best flavour.

However, and its a big however i enjoy making said fancy coils, maybe they taste better down to the pure satisfaction of taking time, relaxing and doing something you want to do, not because you have to do it.

Tea is just tea right??, go and fix the car then have a brew, now thats some good tea.

Claptons oh yeh, one i made earlier.

I Have just done a quick test in lemo 2. Have tried a few builds now and the one that is working for me is the clapton. Twisted 26 was the next best. With this clapton I am getting a denser wetter and all round heavy vape. It dont mean its any better but again who is to say what juice tastes the best. There is so much room for juice to get trapped between layers of thin kanthal that I pressume it must change the characteristics of the vape. Mostly I mess around when I am bored though. If a fancy build works great if not regular is fine too but its nice to try out dufferent builds and as others have said test it for yourself if you are inclined to.
