Boris Johnson says a second wave has arived!

aye but that’s not what we were discussing. of course the care homes knew that people coming in might have covid, whether they were tested or not. there was a global pandemic happening. knowing or not knowing who had it was only part of the problem.

this is why the SG changed their guidance and stopped positive patients being discharged to care homes, and that is the need for testing. to keep it out of care homes in the first place.

What was the question again? :hmm:

I think care homes didn't know who was infected or not, because they were papped out untested to free up beds.

missed this post. you are right, but they did know what they were getting, which was potentially infectious patients coming from hospitals. this was why in scotland the patients discharged to care homes were being isolated for a period, but it seems it didn’t really help. until they changed the policy to 2 negatives tests required.

Nae use just testing the residents and no the staff, the nature of the work is close contact, staff were mixing between care homes and being brought in from all over the UK, that's the reason the one in Skye was badly hit.

Aye, The care home on Skye that knowingly shipped in Staff from Kent during the lock down was a prime example of how some of these Care homes operate. This breached numerous conditions. Good to see they have been removed and NHS Highland now operates it.

If i recall correctly this firm were also in the top tier for deaths in both Scotland and England..

its not solely the care homes the hospitals have a habit of dropping people off in the middle of the night 3 or 4 am this happen a lot even before the lock down also popping someone onto a free ward till transport is available after they have discharged them from the ward they where on to free a bed where they pick up covid. Care homes are not equipped to manage infectuous people most are old converted buildings and you have to come in through the front door for parking for the transport ambulance then wheel the person through the home and try keeping a mask on someone with dementia while you try to get them back to there room past the lounge the dining room, these are not places designed to quarantine.

also the number of false positives are high, was told last week that my local health authority was having to setup teams to deal with the number ,had two people tested positive at work showing no signs and have been retested and are negative that's 2 out of just over 80 staff members tested

The residents and staff of care homes have been badly let down by our government, it simply isn’t good enough :(
