When mixing, say you made a 100ml batch of a flavour, do you put the batch into a large (100ml) bottle then dispense into smaller ones as needed, or do you make many smaller bottles.

Also, where do you buy your bottles from? Found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lot-5-10-...hash=item1ea32d7255:m:mYBUJ0cFFls1-x_MrZo3rbg but seems a little expensive for what they are.

Also, Is it wise to use glass bottles for big batches? Sorry for the inane questions. New to this.

A lot of people use this site https://www.ibottles.co.uk
I just carry mine in the bottle i made in so 200 or 100ml not sure if this is a bad idea or not.
I think glass is generally preferred for big batches but not sure about that to be honest im new to it too.

Depends how quickly you are going to use it, long term storage is ideally best in glass but imo plastic is fine. The smaller volatiles in the concentrates will evaporate off the juice into the headroom in the bottle over time so you don't want to leave a half filled 100ml bottle for months at a time. I tend to mix into 10, 15 and 30ml plastic bottles and will run the entire bottle through a tank before changing. ibottles p&p is ridiculously high I'd recommend lubrisolve for bottles http://www.lubrisolve.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=34_80 they are also very cheap for VG and PG.

I tend to mix larger batches in 200ml glass bottles, especially if its a long steep, so that as Unclebilbo says,, you dont get any absorbtion of flavours into the glass like you can with plastic bottles, i then decant it into smaller 10ml or 30ml / 50ml plastic bottles for using when i want to fill tanks or use for dripping,.as i find these better because of the needle tips i use on the plastic bottles.
Hope that helps and good luck with your adventures into DIY mixing.

For my main mixes I use large jars or bottles and fill to up to two thirds - the air aids with steeping.

300g coffee jars are ideal because they're huge and after a visit to the dishwasher there's no smell left.

For smaller amounts, jam jars are good but avoid pickle jars.

Thanks folks.

I've just been reading up on possible leaching of the plastic into the ejuice.

This is something I'd need to avoid. Does anybody know of this is a specific plastic?

I see HDPE and PET plastic bottles widely available.

I think it may be impractical to store in a glass bottle if they are not as air tight?

I don't think they need to be airtight. Some say that leaving the top off loses flavour, but even if this is true, I don't think a non airtight lid is going to make any difference.

If you're worried about leaching, stick to PET bottles. I've found my liquids steep better in HDPE than PET - the explanation could be entirely innocent, but if you're worried then don't take any chances.

I just checked Lubrisolve is only £2.46 p&p where as ibottles is £4.75, and if you're ordering PG & VG at the same time adding 50 bottles to the order doesn't increase the shipping cost.
