Hope @Vaping Bad doesn't mind me trying clone his mod. Isn't a 1:1 clone but pretty close.
Differers form mine in important ways: the up down buttons are side by side and not recessed, and the fire button is reassessed.
Don't understand the MPV suggestions as @GROOF said he wanted same design goals as mine and #1 rules that out.
My priorities:
1. Easily swappable battery without the use of tools
2. Compact, especially the height (I really don’t like big or heavy e-Cigs)
3. Sturdy
4. Elegant: All controls, screen and charger in-line on one side symmetrically spaced and 23 mm tank not hanging over the edge. Up & down buttons spaced vertically.
5. Safe: All bits secured and venting
6. Battery life and high power capability
7. Cost
8. USB Charging, very low priority, must be on the control side, bottom is no go
How did you make yours tool-less ?? looked the pics an couldn't see any magnets.
I stuck 2 vertical strips of 1.5 mm aluminium on the inside of the lid very tightly fitting, these were originally to position the battery cover and I intended to use magnets to hold it on. But I found that it stays on well enough without magnets, but the strips have needed re-gluing.
I see. I was thinking using 4mm dia x 1mm magnets, drill 2mm hole in the mod, glue one magnet in the drilled hole and then glue another magnet on the door, this on 6 different points then it will hold the door on and keep the door aligned. Don't know if that made sense.
That makes sense and seems like a good method, but you will only know how well it works by prototyping it or building it Eg how will the cover feel to the hand. As this was my first build I found that was the best way for me.
The vent cut-out on the bottom is where I use my fingernail to remove the cover, btw the battery is positive down as that it the end where it would vent.
