Can squonking go wrong?

As @eyeball kid said check for air leaks, also very hich VG liquids don't squonk as easily as a 50/50 mix.

Both the supplied bottles are pants, however until you get something better , imo modmaker , I would for sure use the soft option. I ditched both bottles upon opening the box so I cant remember if the supplied tubes are cut square at the bottom, if so theres a chance it could occasionally air lock on the bottom of the bottle. This may not be the cause of your problem but worth a look see. Also when you squonk press the bottle and hold it for a few seconds before releasing. If you just give a quick squeeze as the bottle re-shapes it will just suck back what you think you have squonked.

Having said that, it is at least working as I had hoped for originally.

Glad you resolved it. I tried Goldilocks bottles in my pico squeeze today and the properties of it's soft material create an amazing efficiency, like a tiny squeeze produces a filled up rda. Vacumesqe in delivery, you have to give it respect or the juice well expands itself all over the rda. Now i see why the original squonk bottles are less squeezable, it's accidental refill squeeze proof I guess

I haven't tried One yet but I assume the squonk hole is horizontal in the 510 as the 510 continues up to secure the deck. This method can be a pain for gulping in air as well. Try an rda with a bottom placed bf pin and insure its level with the deck. This way produces a fill and draw back without pulling in excessive air.
Apart.from that if the system is airproof it's surprising how quickly you know how much to squonk and when.
