chemical sort of smell and steeping

Hi,
Very new to mixing, I made some custard using Capella v2 custard, and bavarian cream and a drop of ethyl maltol. I know that custards take a while to steep but it smells kinda chemically to be honest. Is this the sort of thing a steep will help with or is it just going to remain that way? how long is a basic steep before i should give it a go?

Now there is a can of worms.

Personally my custard gets a MINIMUM of 3 weeks and more like 6 or 8 weeks. I think the chemical smell you mention will disappear after a couple of weeks.

There are others who use custard mixed fresh and don't like it with a few weeks age. That's their taste

So the answer is: It all depends on you and your taste. there is no wrong or right answer. just keep checking every few days until you find what is good for you

Thanks, very helpful. I just wasn't sure if the smell might have just been the concentrate! I will give it a shake and a sniff every day then :-)

theres no reason you cannot try it now. a lot of mixes do smell of chemicles.
what %s did you use? and what nic % have you used.
as said i steep my custard for a minimum 4 weeks before trying and like to taste then steep again for at least another 4 weeks. i have some custards still at it after 3-4 months

i used a 12 mg nicotine 50/50 mix (shop bought) like i said newbie! 10% custard and 6% bavarian cream and a single drop of ethyl maltol (10ml in total)

ah ok. so you have bought premixed base? and added you concentrates.
as scrumpox says what does the base you bought smell like?

That's just the Capella smell. It will disappear in about 3 months.
