Clapton virgin!

Not sure whether to put this here or in the New questions forum, apologies if this is the wrong place.

So.... Claptons. I have a spool of 26/32 Clapton wire in the post and I've never done a Clapton build before. I'm used to just single coil 28ga builds for a Kayfun.

Do I need to pinch and pulse the coils to get them burning evenly from the inside and touching like I do with my "normal" build.

It's going to be a build for my griffin if that makes a difference.

If you make spaced coils they'll fire up perfectly without any need for monkeying with them. Otherwise, yes, you'll need to pinch and strum as usual.

From what I can gather from other folks, if it is premade Clapton wire then soak it in hot soapy water 'fore using it. Give it a scrub with a toothbrush if you have a spare one.
Apparently it can be full of oil and grease or other gunk. Once it has dried off then a couple of extra dry burns 'fore wicking and you should be fine and dandy after that.

If that's Youde (UD) clapton wire make sure you dry burn it well before vaping on it ... watch the plumes of smoke rising from the residue of crap on the wire.


EDIT - what Emra said too ... unless you have an ultrasonic, in which case wrap your coils then give them a couple of cycles before installing and dry burning

Advice well and truly noted, thank you. I'll make sure I give it a good wash and a thorough dry burn. Sounds nasty otherwise.

Can anyone tell me what the fundamental difference is between clapton and twisted wire. I know what they are but how do they differ in the vape they produce? Would be looking at using it in a hurricane clone

For me, claptons are way better flavour. There's more surface area on them so they wick better, taste better and bigger clouds. That's my personal opinion, it boils down to what each individual wants though

For claptons, I think the only material for TC would be SS. Not seen a titanium or NI clapton before
