Coil setup for flavour in Tugboat V2

Hi there guys.

Been using the Tugboat V2 for about a month now. It's my first RDA.

Can someone please tell me what kind of coil setup would get me better flavours? Should I go with thicker rather than thinner wire? I went from using a thicker to thinner wire and found that all of a sudden the flavour was not as great. Is this a general rule for flavour?

Any coil setup (simple ones at the moment, nothing to exotic that require skill) recommendations would be appreciated. I'm using a DNA30 by the way.

Thank you.

I quite like twisted 32awg duel coil setup in my tugboat

Oh really. I'll look into that wire then. You buy it already twisted or you twist it yourself?

Twisted is great! I love how basic it is to make, especially on a mech mod the ramp up time is that of a standard coil. On a regulated device, it may be worth giving the clapton a go! On a mech mod the ramp up sucks for claptons which is why i no longer use it, but I'm almost 100% certain clapton would blow twisted out the water! :)

PM me your address with the resistance you want, I'll get a couple sent over for you to try if you wish. You could do them yourself simple enough really, get a couple strands of the wire of your choice, chuck it in a drill, grab the other end with pliers pull out the slack and twist until it snaps at the chuck :) Plenty videos on YT. The rule of thumb is, the more surface area the better, ie the thicker gauge wires making more contact with the cotton. Twisting gives you that, plus pockets of juice channels, meaning more juice vaporized, more flavor, more vapor :)

Hi hazard93 thanks a lot for the advice. In fact I went to a shop in Wembley yesterday and one of the sales assistants kindly built a 26 gauge coil for me which is coming out at 0.9ohms. It's vaping really nicely with 12 wraps. He said the same thing as you fellas, surface area is key to flavour.

I'll check out this Clapton that you're talking about. If it means more flavour then I'll definitely give it a go.

Thanks for the offer to send me some coils. That's kind of you. I'll give this 26 gauge a couple of weeks and see how it runs. What I like about it is that I don't have to use too high a wattage and therefore drain the battery. I'm vaping on 15watts at the moment.

Twisted them myself as it is really easy and very quick to do.

I acquired the twisted messes rda from a competition and wanted to try a new coil. I knew the Clapton coil has a slow ramp up time so I wanted to try something different.

I found a fused Clapton coil build tutorial on yt.

Wow.

Came in at 0.4 ohms so dual coils was 0.2.

Quick ramp up and amazing flavour and cloud.

Be sure to chuck up some pics in the Coil Porn section bud :)

PS: I tried dual coils once and was disappointed with the flavour

Thought it would give me amazing flavour but it didn't. Maybe 2 coils each with 15 wraps using 26 gauge would give me better flavour actually? Because I think that last time I used 29 gauge for the dual coil setup and maybe there wasn't enough surface area?
