Coronavirus UK Daily Statistics

UK borders should have been shut down as soon as we saw how devastating Covid 19 was.
but instead they were more concerned about the economy and losing money.

See I understand your point Rickster - for me I reckon the fact we are an island is exactly why it’s got so bad.
Once it was in it was in - I do think we didn’t start soon enough you are right - I still reckon tho it would have gone the same way (maybe slower) remember the first week or two of lockdown was a joke out there with people ignoring it - that would still have happened .. just sooner

this is one of those we will never know things ...

I hear you fella, but by that reckoning the likes of Hong Kong should have been wiped out....... agree the lock down is weak, still people flying in and out every day...... China locked cities down completely early on... no in's no outs, which is maybe why Hong Kong is still here.
Im aware folks don't believe their death rates numbers...... but maybe they got it right....I struggle to believe if millions died in China they could cover that up.
The people of Hong Kong are pretty militant....if bad shit was happening (lots dying) we would know.

In my opinion , The reason for such a high death rate in the uk are :-

The government are incompetent twats

The UK is way over crowded

Almost every death is possibly being blamed on covid-19.

The government are incompetent twats.

People are still going out like nothing is happening.

The government are incompetent twats.

There may be other reasons !

Then again, it could also be said that if Labour, Lib/Dems, Greens, or god help us the SNP were in power what a government of incompetent twats they would have been.

No, I take that back, it would have been a clusterfuck of incompetent arseholes. :)

I hear ya - can you imagine the outcry here if the government started boarding up doors to people’s flats tho?! China handled it in a way that particular regime can get away with and the people are kinda used too.

here even now we have anti lockdown muppets planning a mass protest picnic in London next week.

and that’s with our kinda lapse lockdown!

Agreed, maybe will happen if a second wave comes though.
Get your bog roll in

All of what you've said here is old news and has been discussed here already.
None of what you've said is questionable and all is true.

Glad you agree, but my main point was the fact that the media are currently hyping it up that we have reached 30k deaths, higher than Italy, the worst in Europe, and most of the public seems to be going along with the hype, with no thought about the facts at all. :)

I agree with that. If you look at SARS - only 4 cases are recorded for the UK. I do believe a lot of the Western countries thought this would be similar at first. We forgot we have a lot more travel, and a lot more to do with China, than back then.
Exactly

The problem is that there are so many different variables in play - population, population density, that we are an island, the government and their response, the public and their behaviour, the list goes on. It's kinda pointless to compare death rates as there are huge differences between how countries record deaths, the quality of their healthcare and how their people behave. What we have to concentrate on right now is how to protect people, that is what is important, we can go through all the who, what, when, where, why, how later.
Has the government made mistakes? Yes
Has Boris made mistakes? Yes
Has the public made mistakes? Yes
Has there been a whole lot of other factors we have considered and not considered? Yes.

Let's all do what we can to stop people dying, stay safe, keep others safe and then investigate and learn when this is over.
