Thats how ive gotten most of my best jobs. It probably isnt the best for politics, but for business it can be very beneficial, if your cronies are actually like minded similarly competent, and there is some amount of trust between u and them.i think cronyism is endemic in capitalism.

There is too much fraud in industry these days. I can make any resume, supply any references, and basically trick anyone into hiring me if i wanted to, regardless if i knew what i was doing. Often all it takes is a good suit and a nice smile.
Im not gonna read through those links because i can guess what they say, but i guess what im describing is appropriate cronyism and those are abuses of it. Or maybe im just applying a broader definition to a word that more accurately means giving work to friends even tho u know they r incompetent so both parties can benefit through fraud and kickbacks.https://www.theguardian.com/comment...us-contracts-government-transparency-pandemic

I think the only difference between now and in the future will be it occurring openly without any fear of accountability.it is. corruption is both a symptom of capitalism and a catalyst for it. a vicious circle.
we need to think about it in degrees of extreme, though. the government have taken the first opportunity to bypass eu cronyism protection laws (and we both agree the eu is rife with cronyism) to pass out millions of pounds to their incompetent mates with no scrutiny.
i might be a sign of things to come.
