So im pretty interested with the whole micro coil and cotton thing going on at the moment, ive spent the last few days researching it and have decided before i buy any supplies im going to get your advice first.

Im saving up for a Kayfun 3.1 or lite and doing it with that, but whilst im waiting/getting permission from the dragon (she'll love me for that) i want to try it on my protank 2.

Now the thing i dont quite understand is the different types of kanthal there is.

From my studies most us .30 guage wrapped around a 1/16 drill bit, does this sound about right. Ill be using it on my v4 vamo.

Theres plenty od reviews and how to's but not alot of the whats and whys about wire and ohms/ sub ohms pros and cons etc etc.

So before i go and buy some .30 kanthal and blow myself up does anyone else micro coil - cotton wick a PT2? What results are you getting?

Thanks in advance

Alex

forget about sub ohm coils on a vamo it wont fire below 1.3

as for the rest am sure all the micro heads will pop in and explain and throw some advice your way

Thanks MadTz. I did think that with the vamo. im am thinking of a mech mod or better mod for the KF 3.1 but thats another story and still way over my head.lol

I been tempted to try a micro coil myself on the the KF lite but not brave enough. all the coils i been doing have been great so far but everyone's raving about them so I maybe try it someday

I love microcoil with mesh creamy and compact smoke in full vg. I love a lot it kanthal a1 0,32 from 8,5 cm (1,4 ohm) to 10 cm (1,5 ohm) less hotspot problem. Kayfun with cotton more hit but remember that the cotton burn not use wothout liquid :p

I use .25 Kanthal wrapped around a 2.5mm screwdriver, 7 turns should give about 2 ohms, if you squeeze and burn so that the coils is very compact with no gaps then you should be able to thread cotton into the head and remove it again lots of times without having to recoil - I'm up to 12 wicks so far on one coil...:grin2:

Thanks Tubbyengineer. im looking forward to more input from others to see what other experiences there have been. I may look at a sample pack and just play around and see what happens

Try ten wraps .20 kathal Around a 19 gauge needle. Not only gives a perfect wrap but a perfect position if held in the groove of the head when putting in river bung and pin. Gives me around 1.5 ohms and a cracking cape at around 4 to 5 watts in pro tank and protank2 on vamo2

Thanks Dutydruid. See this is my point so far .20, .25, .32 guages. Im confused
