What's new

Did u get this email from Crème de Vape

There is little point in shouting at the vendors about this ...

we are having to implement systems by lawful requirement to guarantee we are not selling to people below 18

there are several ways of doing .. most of which are unbelievably expensive - requiring age verification processes from external sources such as experian.

none of us like it, none of us want to do it .. its the way it is.

in theory the fact someone has a paypal account or credit card should mean they are over 18 anyway - this apparently in the eyes of the people trying to push us out to make way for big pharma, sorry .. I mean making responsible and not at all over the top laws is no longer enough.

Agree..this is not vendors fault...but they are going to have to get together and think of a way to address this.....and use whatever data is already out there...cause I for one would not be happy scanning and giving personal details to every vendor...who may even be kitchen sink operators..who the fk knows
Would you give out personal details over the phone/internet to a microsoft expert from the far east...requesting your details..cos your computer is riddled with a virus.
The more established vendors should survive...but taking a punt on a new vendor..nah..
Scam vendor websites will be rife...

tbh .. i think the instances of needing to use a passport or whatever are likely to be rare .. these data agencies have all sorts of shit on you .. they will use your credit file.

the people who are going to loose out are the guys who dont have cards, credit etc (and good on em!) .. its those guys I feel for.

be aware as well .. this as much as its likely an excersise in scuppering online ecig sales is probably also as much an exercise to get as much info about those who live under the radar as well

big brother is out and about and wanting your details.

CREME DE VAPE....OR...anyone eslse on their wave length.... a simple answer to the emails you have sent out....GO FUCK YOURSELF!!!!!!

You have sent out a mewing email about justifying of age...this has no justification in law............if you don<t want to supply your customers take your site down and stop trade!!!!!

Fellow POTV members...plus this thread if you have had enough of being walked over!

Sorry to rain on your parade but actually reading the Email reveals this choice nugget of information...

"On 1st October 2015, it became a criminal offence to supply nicotine containing e-cigs to persons under the age of 18.
We've always taken a firm position in this regard, however, as a result of this new and welcomed legislation, we have implemented further steps to ensure sales to minors are prevented "

So yes it does have a basis in law...

We aren't being walked over and nobody is saying they don't want to supply us...

Climb down off your soapbox, have a vape and relax, this is just the way things will be from now on...

Just so you are aware .. Our company .. and in fact most if not all of the companies I know have always had an over 18 policy anyway.

I welcome that bit

The fact that having a credit cad or paypal is now no longer considered enough proof is utter bullshit, but its the way it is.

I suspect in the coming months .. it will probably be the least of our worries though.

yip again I agree with you....B&M's may also benefit as you can just flash ID...or in my case just take a gander at my coupon(hard paper round):)

I would whole heartedly agree with you

if in fact it had no justification in law

unfortunately ... it now does

I don't have any problem with it but feel the powers that be are two faced. If I buy a knife or alcohol online I merely have to state I'm over 18 but no need to prove it. Vendors have no choice but to follow the law so they can't be blamed for that.

a number of us are only just finding out about it ourselves ... and researching what we have to do - seems like basically we have to spend a couple of thousand quid to have experian or similar integration .. and then a cost per verification.

Its fucking bullshit, but what can we do ?

the fines for not doing it are pretty harsh

It just seems to me like its just more red tape bollocks they are using to try and Curb the "Vaping Scurge" so they can get back to pleasing big pharma and taking the tax from fags ...

and the artists formerly known as "Cloud Nine" are not early adopting at all .. they are following the letter of the law.

I can't blame them .. and I'm 100% certain they want to do it as little as you want them to do it.

I feel for you, as an ex retailer having to deal with regulations from above, fortunately for you people like me who will cut off their nose to spite their face (not sure if this is only understood in Scotland) are in the minority and most customers will fall in line once it is the norm. I think you are right that this is just increasing barriers to trade to ensure only the big boys can play. I hope you are big enough.

There are are many controls to the sale of goods that would effect many online suppliers, this including Ebay and Amazon...neither of which has posted approval!

this legislation has no point in law, the existing law in credit availability for sub 18 year old's is enough to support a refusal of trade....as does the scenario in a public house!

What you state is not law and is without constitution!

Dont want to sell to me....respective that I am of an age to die and serve for my country, that I am old enough to be married, old enough that I am old enough to obtain credit, pay taxes...................you know what! goverment...go fuck yourself!!!!

Now, you as a retailer....you may be implemented in regulation but no more so than the bigger fish in your pool............gulp at what you believe to be your masters air....or suffocate due to the lack of your supporters nutrition!

I suspect we are not

and sadly I suspect all the lobbying, signature collecting, court challenges and sense of basic human rights and libertarianism in the world are not going to stop what's coming.

My suspicion is the decision was made months or years ago, and it's all just posturing to make it look fair now.

did you see the latest meetings have all been done in secret with the tobacco boys behind closed doors? Despite that apparently not being allowed under some WHO ruling.

we can't fight the EU it's an inherently corrupt organisation invested in protecting big business. We will never win until we get out - and even then we still have our government to battle, was anyone else surprised they are one of the parties challenging the TW case?

Despite their protestations they thought the TPD was badly implemented?

meh... I'm just a total bundle of happy tonight
