What's new

Did u get this email from Crème de Vape

Just so you are aware .. Our company .. and in fact most if not all of the companies I know have always had an over 18 policy anyway.

I welcome that bit

The fact that having a credit cad or paypal is now no longer considered enough proof is utter bullshit, but its the way it is.

I suspect in the coming months .. it will probably be the least of our worries though.

Having read the E-mail they're just forewarning people that in the unlikely event that their automated ID checking sytem fails to give them a confirmation they will request manual verification, probably because they don't want to increase costs by using a more expensive system that provides access to a greater number of datasets...

After all the fines involved can be quite scary - £1000 to £5000 and could also potentially earn you between 6 and 24 months in clink...:11:

There are are many controls to the sale of goods that would effect many online suppliers, this including Ebay and Amazon...neither of which has posted approval!

this legislation has no point in law, the existing law in credit availability for sub 18 year old's is enough to support a refusal of trade....as does the scenario in a public house!

What you state is not law and is without constitution!

Dont want to sell to me....respective that I am of an age to die and serve for my country, that I am old enough to be married, old enough that I am old enough to obtain credit, pay taxes...................you know what! goverment...go fuck yourself!!!!

Now, you as a retailer....you may be implemented in regulation but no more so than the bigger fish in your pool............gulp at what you believe to be your masters air....or suffocate due to the lack of your supporters nutrition!

To to be fair dude, if I have to implement this to carry on trading or face closure or fines, and it upsets you... I can live with upsetting you

I don't have any problem with it but feel the powers that be are two faced. If I buy a knife or alcohol online I merely have to state I'm over 18 but no need to prove it. Vendors have no choice but to follow the law so they can't be blamed for that.

Actually the 18+ tick box is just there as an attempt by the retailer to shift the blame to you - if you are under 18 and use a stolen / borrowed card and have ticked the box they'll try to use that as proof of deliberate intent to deceive, they still use AVS systems in the background, you just normally never know about it...

I feel for you, as an ex retailer having to deal with regulations from above, fortunately for you people like me who will cut off their nose to spite their face (not sure if this is only understood in Scotland) are in the minority and most customers will fall in line once it is the norm. I think you are right that this is just increasing barriers to trade to ensure only the big boys can play. I hope you are big enough.

It is understood up here in Scotland......we would cut off our balls to spite the wife:)

Sorry to rain on your parade but actually reading the Email reveals this choice nugget of information...

"On 1st October 2015, it became a criminal offence to supply nicotine containing e-cigs to persons under the age of 18.
We've always taken a firm position in this regard, however, as a result of this new and welcomed legislation, we have implemented further steps to ensure sales to minors are prevented "

So yes it does have a basis in law...

We aren't being walked over and nobody is saying they don't want to supply us...

Climb down off your soapbox, have a vape and relax, this is just the way things will be from now on...

[/QUOTE

Wind your neck in tubby....you may well be knowledgeable within your field, but not all ! The sales of goods act controls all areas and depends very much on the retailer......lets just see how many cigarette lighters and machetes are sold to under 18's.....................this country is so fucked up and it isnt helped by those who aimlessly follow to crap when told!

Cloud 9 was a reputable vendor, and the folk behind it have chosen to rebrand instead of closing down, or enter administration, it's encouraging.

I am over 18, and have no problem confirming it.

Some feedback based on recent age restrictions is uncompromising.

Creme de Vape is still a crap name.

There's a good chance most of the above statements are true :)

Cool...................well then I would be one less customer!.....then you would lose another and another.....a business that does not listen to it's customers loses customers, then more customers until which point the business has no more customers..... then stops being a supplier but yet another line in the failed business statistics!

But but... I want to buy a 10ml bottle with some free eliquid....
I want to buy 0nic juice, with 1ml free nic in another bottle.... I want flavourings, with free gift... Etc etc etc

You don't seem to comprehend that this isn't businesses having a go at customers.

no one is trying to pull you down.

we don't want to do it - we are being forced by law to implement these things - you think we want to spend X thousand implementing systems we don't want to implement, and then pay a fee to some middleman company each time someone new registers?

Of course we don't, we can lobby the government and tell them it's bullshit etc, but in the meantime what do you want us to do? Break the law to satisfy your sense of indignation at a ridiculous law, a law we even agree with you about.

face fines and prison to make sure you and a handful of like minded people can say "yeah that's how it's done!"

its a a lovely idea, but I'm no martyr and with my hair id be someone's bitch in seconds inside.

probably PlumeBlu s bitch knowing my luck if he tried the Martyr route as well.
