Hello there Boys & Girls, So after a long long time building up some knowledge & finding good suppliers I've recently decided to start making up my own juice. I'm starting this thread for a few reasons-

- I really need some advice on how to avoid any pitfalls, I know that a lot of you have been making your own juices & know how to avoid silly mistakes with mixes & general steeping advice.

- I really could use you to tell me where to get good flavour concentrates from, I am not too fussy on price at the minute my Capella Flavours have just come through the letterbox. I really don't want any cheap nasty stuff, already been stung before!

The reason I am making my own is the fact that the heavy vg juices I keep buying are costing me so much money that it is ridiculous haha!

I've just started as well bud, and the biggest mistake I made was to try and run before I could walk. What I mean is that I tried to emulate the big boys with exotic mixes and complicated recipes. All bar one turned out crap, so crap that even a healthy dose of menthol couldn't rescue them.

Start simple, keep to one or two flavours to start with my current favourite is Capella sweet strawberry @10% and sweet cream@10
Simple and effective, hope this helps bud. I'm sure more experienced mixers will chiime in .

Start with making up small batches to test like 5ml to see if you like. With steeping it's different with every concentrate but usually Fruits are good off the bat, custards and tobaccos usually take a few weeks. For getting concentrates check out chefsvapour and justvape247

I hear this all the time " fruits are usually good to go straight away custards and tobacco need steeping " but in my experience which I admit is only 2-3 months (if that) is not what I have found.... All of my mixes including fruits have needed to be "steeped" so my advice be prepared to wait get some shop bought juice to see you a couple of weeks

The difference is that a fruit vape is acceptable straight away but will certainly improve as you say, but tobacco's and custards must be steeped.

What they said above.

I find my strawberry mix is acceptable freshly mixed but is an ADV after a couple of weeks steeping.

Measure concentrates with syringe measurement rather than drops from the bottles. After starting with using the dropper method a with 10ml mixes that I liked then trying to recreate 30ml of a mix I liked just did not work. The drops are inconsistent and vary from different bottles and manufacturers.
Some swear by making 5ml mixes without Nic base to test recipes to save on nic base (I don't but each to their own).
Maybe research a recipe for concentrates required instead of randomly selecting a few unless you know what you want to create.
Some ready mixed concentrate from companies like pink spot/t juice among others will give you a nice easy vapeable DIY to vape while you get your personal mixes how you like them and will build confidence at the same time.
Good luck and hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

If you just stick to premixed concentrates EG Pink Spot, MBV, T-Juice you can't really go wrong. I've never bothered making up a custom juice, I find it isn't really cost effecient. You could waste so much money on concentrates before you find something nice.

Cheers Boz, it's good to see i'm not the only one haha! :p you see I nearly went there last night haha! so i made up a cheesecake 10ml, grape 10ml, and im doing some research on a banging custard technique! cheesecake needed some more sweetness so i put a dash of ethyl maltol in I've actually got the strawberry & the cream flavours eyed up next for the cheesecake and maybe a custardy spin. Is it more like a fruit or strawberry lace kind of taste?

I don't know about you but I'm really impressed with Capella's Flavourings too?! :D

Take it easy mate

Hi Ben, as has been said above, start off with 5ml testers and make sure you record your exact measurements when mixing flavours so you can repeat on your next batch if you like it or make some adjustments if you dont. Most people recommend Capella is steeped for 7 days (as we know your all eager to taste) but for a full flavour, try 21 days plus!

For the first half doz mixes, stick with one flavour until you get the basics right, then introduce multi flavours into your mixes

Capella flavours are really good quality, but if you like fruit flavours, try inawera. Very good, very strong with a recommended mixing guide of between 2% to 5%, although I would start nearer 5%.

Good luck with the mixing.
