DIY small DNA 200 - advice please

What about simply buying the VS dna200? Once materials, time and the dna200 board are all factored in I'd find it difficult to believe it would be cheaper building your own. Plus, the vaporshark has 2amp charging (which is additional to normal dna200s). This offsets the tiny battery problem to a certain extent as it can be charged faster.
It will be slightly more expensive to do what I want, the issue wasn't budget it was to have something similar in size but designed "better".

Edit: by better I mean better for me

The main limitation regarding size is going to be the what battery you go for. Maybe it would be worth considering a 2s 133w build?

2 x 18650 give a decent run time, and are easily swapped out.

Saying that, you could always go for a lower mah 3s pack and just make it easily accessible for change outs/outboard charging.

The wH of a smaller 3s pack isn't awful and fine for vaping at lower powers. Plus they have lower IR than 18650's so you should see a bit of extra run time, as they wont be sagging too low as fast.

That's the beauty of making your own, beyond the pride / acheivement....but actually being able to tailor it to your needs. Nobody vapes in the same way as the next man :P.

I'd personally start off by making a list of viable lipo packs / cell configurations and work out which way would suit.

Also have a peep at the dna200 modders facebook group to see what people have managed to cram in various enclosures. Could give you some inspiration.

This thread is probably worth a look too:

Hope some of this is of some help!

Personally if I build another dna200 I'd use 2 18650 instead of lipo. I built one with a 1050mah pack and the battery life is not good. A pair of 3000mAh AWT or something will last all day at 30 or 40w. Without plugging my boxes, the WideBoy box was designed for 2 18650 and a board.

This.

VS might only have a 900mAh battery but it charges from zero to full in 70 minutes.

Great little mod.
