Had to replace some old rotting oak post for work a while back.
I take all the old wood home to use for the winter months.( wood burner).
After cutting away all the rotten stuff i had a good amount to play with.
Took it to my little pillar drill. And hours of sanding into shape i ended up with this.
The above and below pic shows were i sanded back the outer bark to reveal the wood.
And leaves a stunning grain.
The top and bottom are made from a wood called Okan. African hard hard. And is a nightmare to cut. I spent around a day just sorting top and bottom pieces. But more on that another day.
Really happy how this one turned out.
And love the grain.
We went to Kingston Lacy recently. So i took a couple of shots.
Thanks for looking.
