EU Statistics on Smoking & Vaping

If the EU and member countries are aiming for a similar smoke free target of 5% to the UK by 2030 then like the UK where the rate was 13.3% in 2021 most of them have an even longer way to go. https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopula...lletins/adultsmokinghabitsingreatbritain/2021

I see Euronews like many others are unaware that 'smoking' refers to cigarettes not e-cigarettes, it's called 'vaping'.
As with all things EU, policy is decided on many levels, and public health is a state determined issue. It doesn’t seem that the EU as a whole has any clearly defined policy on harm reduction, and this is actually the case regarding many environmental issues, as well.

Dare I say it, but in terms of concrete measures, the UK is leading the world on this public health issue, ie utilizing vaping as a publicly supported alternative to smoking.
