EVOD coil help please

Having just spent the whole evening dismantling and rebuilding the evod clearomiser, I have, I have to say I am singularly unimpressed.

I get that it can be made better by recoiling and I'm sure given the time and inclination I could BUT should I have to?

I've lost about 5ml of juice this evening and although after about 4 hours and a new coil, I'm now puffing clouds of pure joy, this is incredibly stressful. 7 evod clearomisers and I'm worried about each having that amount of time devoted to them.

Back on the search tomorrow I guess. Sigh.

And I thought it's just me... I just got some EVODs and the long chimney design gave me issues. I have 2 originals and a fake. The fake has a short chimney and works reasonably well. The originals gurgle and the flavour wicks were so badly located, they kept coming out. I replaced one and will see how it goes, yes they burn to a cinder when dry burning. Which seems wrong? And can't be healthy?
I found the gurgling doesn't always come from a flooded coil. (Unless you remove the flavour wick). Water collects in the airtube from condensation. Eventually it will drown the coil. I find a quick shake upside down (the way you prep a mercury fever thermometer) and no gurgling and reduced vapour. And no more dry burns.

I'm using 2mm silica wick and I bought res/low res wires from stealth vape, pack of 50 costs £3. So with the wick making a new coil comes out at about 20p :grin2:

These pre made wires are so good, I too buy mine from Rob at stealthvape, I use a 2 ml drill bit and cotton wool, follow the you tube vids:-) I would also agree that the stock coils aren't great, I only realised this once I started recoiling my own though, 8 months later it's like learning to ride a bike, seems daunting to begin with but once you've had a try you want to get back on and have another go:-)
Then the vaping journey has begun and before you know it your buying mech mods, shiny things, bundles of wire, mini flame throwers, eyebrow tweezers, a bigger box to keep your vape kit in and time flies by until you realise you can do this, you have a new hobby and you actually haven't considered having a real ciggie for months cos you've been too busy learning to vape:-D
Enjoy the ride fella;-)

I totally agree. Having spent a lot of time not to mention money findong my ideal setup now I've got to spend more & hope I can become proficient in making new coils. Not convinced I can or want to spend that amount of time doing it.

As I don't have a fancy battery I'm going to need an Ohm meter. Where's the best place to get one ?

Yes those pre-made wires at stealthvape look good but my desired resistance of 1.8 ohm is out of stock at the moment.

Some are saying just use 2mm Ekowool no flavour wick. Others that a flavour wick is essential.

Confused I be.

Previously a coil would last me weeks now a couple of days so something must have happened with the design or build quality.

How long does a home made coil last as a matter of interest ?

Howl long is a piece of string? :grin2:

I did mine a week ago and it is still going strong. Depends how much you vape, what juice you use etc. My other half had a CE4 that lasted 2 months before it died and I've had them only last a week.

Building your own is so much cheaper and works out at roughly 20p a coil. I use the pre-made wire from StealthVape (2.2 ohms) on a 2mm wick with a 2mm flavour wick on top and it works great. I get no burnt taste and the flavour and vapour is far superior to the stock coils.
