EVOD coil help please

Used evods for months. Previously a coil head would last me a couple of weeks now a couple of days.

First batch of coils had a short chimney the latest batch a long chimney which I think is the latest design for both evod & protank.

Both I think originals the latest ones even have the OR code I think it's called on the box as well as the Kanger tech branding.

Was going to try a dry burn as the vapour production had dropped dramatically. The flavour wicks were burnt beyond recognition.

Saw, somewhere that you can remove these so I did. Did a dry burn & eventually the coil glowed red but unfortunately without the flavour wicks it just gurgled & leaked eLiquid.

At this rate I'll be spending just as much on coils as I do liquid as I only vape about 3 ml a day.
What's gone wrong ?

I had problems with the EVOD from the start, leaking and gurgling. But if it's been working okay for you and you are sure it's genuine (we all know there is plenty of knock-off going around). If it's a new design maybe more people are having the same problem? It does sound like a bad batch to me.

The problems with the burnt ttaste and the gurgling is stopping em from ordering the mini pro tank, as it is the same head.
Currently looking at aspire instead....

I put my order in just before I had these problems. Should have my mini protank 2 v2 maybe tomorrow. The v2 is the one which has a removeable drip tip. Previously I was so impressed with the reliability, ease of use & performance of the EVOD that I wanted something that used the same system basically but have a couple of juices that are reputed to be tank crackers so the need for a pyrex tank. I'll let you know but I'll be surprised if the new tank makes a difference.

I've had a look at recoiling & to be honest I don't fancy it one bit. Even my dry burn toasted the wick that runs through the coil which I didn't spot initially. I just removed the flavour wicks beforehand. I've only ever done a dry burn on a CE4 where the wicks & the coils are completely separate.

If you are dry burning always remove the top wick. Just press the button enough so that the coil glows then release, do this about 6-7 other times and it should be ok. Never press the button and keep your finger on it.

Just spotted PlumeBlu do a replacemtn coil made by GreenSound Tech that they use in their clearos but it is also compatible with the EVOD. Anyone tried these ?

Someone on YouTube was threading a cotton wick through the coil itself. Isn't there a wick there in the original; design ? If so then dry burning is going to make toast of that surely ?

that would be cool - would like to know as well. Although, the YouTube video of recoiling really didn't look that hard.
What surprises me, is that the wicks that are supplied with the tank burn at all. Shouldn't they be resistant? Or is Kanger using cotton, rather than silica?

A lot of people take out the stock wicks and coils so they can put their own in. If you "pulse" the button so that coil glows for a second or two it should be ok, loads of people do it. Never dry burn with a cotton wick in the coil, otherwise it's bye bye wick. A lot of companies will use cheap wire and wick when they send out new tanks. I've noticed a hell of a difference between the stock coils and my own.

Thanks biggsy68. Now where & what type of wick in terms of material & thickness should I get for the EVOD ?

The wicks are so incredibly flimsy & dare I say it cheap that's started me thinking they are engineered to fail making us buy more coils or recoil if expert enough. Go on madpiano you know you want to try those coils. I've just ordered 4 packs of 5 from myepack together with my mini protank 2. Think I made a boo boo there.
