Evods don't taste right.

Hello all, I purchased 3 evods last week and they just don't taste right. I'm currently vaping snake oil in one of them and the taste is very muted. The nasal exhale is also not good.

I also bought 3 new liquids last week and I could hardly taste them. All the 3 tasted the same really.

I've just now tried the snake oil in my ce4 and its terrific. A nice smooth vape.

Has anyone got any ideas on this one? I've read on another forum that other people have had problems. And it can be due to oil put on them in the factory when they are made.

Thanks.

I've yet to get on with Evods, and mine were "pre-loved" so I don't think it can be a factory issue. Very well-trusted sources assure me that they'll grown on me if I stick with them, but I do wonder whether it's a matter of top coil ("warmer" vape) versus bottom coil ("cooler" vape). I've just picked one up again to test and I'm getting plenty of vapour, but not much on flavour and nothing on throat hit.

I'm really let down with them. I bought 3 of them and with replacement coils it cost me about £25.

Well, don't write them off yet - it may be that someone will tell me I'm doing it all wrong - wouldn't be the first time ;-)

I'm trying a protank mini today when the other half picks it up from the post office for me, so I'll let you know how that goes. That's bottom-coiled too, though, so I'm not too optimistic. If I/you don't get on with the Evods, I'm willing to bet there are plenty of people who'll snatch our hands off to exchange them for CEs.

I feel really disheartened with it all to be honest. I've spent well over £50 now on CE4's and these evods. Most of the CE4's I have are junk the last one just barely lasted me 5 days.

As far as I can see, their is no fail safe mechanism for inhaling the vapour. It is also incredibly difficult to remove the old liquid flavour from the wicks. Once you want to change flavour liquid. Usually the atomizer is killed in the washing process.

Please let me know how you get on with the pro tank mini.

If CEs are working better for you than bottom-coiled units like the evod, maybe try CE5s? That way you can buy the replacement wick+coil assemblies more cheaply and just replace them rather than trying to wash out CE4s? Stick the evods in the swap shop for CE5s or juice and someone will bite your hand off ;-)

Either way, don't get discouraged. Someone with more know-how than me will be along to give advice, and there IS a set-up that will work for you.

cheers mate. I'm just watching some videos now of ce5's on youtube. I may well put them up for swap. Thanks.

Abyss how are you cleaning them?

The usual answers for not getting much flavor are:
-clean and dry burn- with my evods I usually dissemble as far as possible, soak in warm water for at least 10mins, leave to dry off a bit/pat dry with kitchen roll.. then stick it back together and pulse it until the coils glow and it looks all new and non gunky again
-recoil- if you know how to
-swap head- if you have a spare to hand, although if you're getting the same problem with all 3 this is a redundant suggestion I suppose
-what resistance is it? and what are you using it on? if VV try upping the voltage
-have you tried removing the flavor wicks? do you know how to? if not youtube it and give it a go

If you're not getting on with bottom coil, but want to upgrade from the CE4s maybe look at a vivi nova

*reads back to check I generally made sense and covered everything I could think of*

yep.. that's about it.. sure I'll have missed something, but in about an hours time the clever ones will be along with something more useful no doubt :)

Abyss If your using the evods straight out the box, then there's a good chance they have 2.5ohm heads in them. Which won't work very well on an ego battery. If you have not already tried it, swap a head out for a 1.8ohm, which I think you purchased.

Hello, thanks for such a detailed reply, when I cleaned the first one tonight, I run it under the tap for a couple of minutes. Washed and dried all the internal parts. Then dry burned and put it all back together. I have swapped the heads over. It was 2.5 but I earlier changed it over to a 1.8 I've got a standard ego battery that does 3.3 volts and a ego+ that can do 4.2 volts. Ain't tried moving the flavour wicks yet. I've also tried upping the voltage. I may look in to the Vivi Nova.
