What's new

First attempt at RTA with Ammit MTL a disaster!

Everything I’ve read about that rta suggests it’s terrible. Maybe you need to get something else and start again.

I'm afraid this might be the case, it really shouldn't be this difficult.

Were you recommended this tank by someone here?

Yeah I think I will. It came fom Amazon so hopefully I should be able to return it as faulty.

Any suggestions for the replacement?

Can you undo it and take some pictures of the build you've put in it for us to look at to see if theres something obvious.
If nothing obvious maybe take some pictures of the tank disassembled so we can see if theres something missing.

Could it be that you a taking too hard a drag for the air flow and wicking to keep up?

I don’t have the ammit but I have a few other mtl rta’s so I can try my best to offer some advice.

I’m just wondering that maybe if you want a more restricted hit then more wick would be the answer so as not to allow too much juice into the coil and flood it as opposed to a more restricted Dlr where you need less wick to allow for more saturation?

If the airflow is completed shut off and your still taking big drags then you’ve effectively got a straw that’s gonna suck up juice into your gob and no one wants that [emoji2961]

I would try a tighter wick in the coil but then thin out the tails slightly and take a few steady drags just to get it going and then faff around from there.

Hope it helps bud [emoji1303]

A lot of people like the hastur mini. I wasn’t much of a fan of it. I quite like the asvape zeta, it was going cheap on amazon at one point.

Spread the wraps of the coil out - especially the outer wraps
this will offer more support to the wicking to keep it away from air block

If a saturated wick just starts to touch the air block then juice will transfer
on bottom air flow tanks it may start to weep out
on the Ammit it will gurgle/flood if excess liquid drips near/in the air jets on deck

you want wick supported as much as possible before starting to drop downwards into juice wells

Raise the coil - better to be a smidge higher than lower

Some people can can get on with some tanks
& others simply can not seem to get on with that tank for some reason(s)
They either "suss it" in the end or they don't

Most tanks have a qwirk or two in the way you build 'em
I got on OK with it most of the time, bit of flooding when I refilled it now n then
but it was nothing special to me in the end and too fucking big/tall/wide with me feeling overpriced & over rated

by all means persevere with it a bit, spead out the coil a bit and raise it up a bit
ensuring wick cannot touch anywhere it shouldn't etc....
reckon you might suss it in the end but if not cut ya losses and grab a better rta I'm afraid

If you want something that is very easy to wick and coil that gives great flavour for mtl then the Vapefly Galaxies RDTA is a little corker! It’s almost impossible to get it wrong. The Rta version gets good reviews too but I’ve not tried it.
You could look at the following too

Naturevspe true mtl
Berserker mini mtl
Siren 2
Hastur mini
Dvarw clone

All mentioned get thumbs up from many members here. Each have their faults and idiosyncrasies as nothing is perfect

I can vouch for the Siren tank, lovely flavour response from that one. But as disco says, every tank has it's individual quirks, including the Siren. I'm also a newbie to RTAs..and have only started using the Siren, therefor still playing around with build set ups. With my Siren, i'm still getting leakage issues via the air vents...but have managed to reduce it to an intermittent wee dribble now..unlike the downpour i had with it, the first time i refilled! It practically gushed out! Turn out my coil was too close to the deck's air holes, so the wick was probably touching the deck. Fixed that...but now I have noticed that my coil has a habit of sinking down closer to the air holes, than where i had initially positioned it. Could be that the wire i'm using is too thin & perhaps distorting under fire? Dunno, But i'll get it sussed eventually.

Anyway, i digress, as far as the Siren's performance is concerned, I like it, produces a rich flavour and a draw not too disimiliar to a Nuauty Mini, just slightly more airy fully open..but nice with a 1.0 ohm build.

Would anyone be prepared to test it out for me? I would post it and send a return label of course. I really don't know what else to do.

If you send it to me I will test it and I'll pay to send it back to you. If you wanna go that route pm me.
