First attempt at RTA with Ammit MTL a disaster!

Thanks for that I'll bear all this in mind next build.

I am slightly confused about voltage/watts though. When my Zelos is in in Watt mode it displays the coil ohms and '0.0v'. When in Volt mode it shows coil ohms and '0.0w'. tbh I am not sure which mode I should be using, why it shows either zero volts or zero watts depending on the mode selected, and if altering the volt setting affects the watt setting and vice versa...?

Leave it Watt mode but just make a note of the volts as you fire it.
You should never need to be over 4volts on 1.5 coil on that tank. It is very efficient and good tanks set up well should produce good results and flavour without ramping up the power.
Idealistically you want to keep it mild and just lightly bump up the power to get the flavour without excess power/heat etc....

Take my example with a tiny pinch of salt though as everybody is different and some builds vary loads, plus different mods may calculate the power differently and also different juice will a smidge more/less power blah blah blah.....

Mine is "about" 10w or 3.65v ISH but depends on tank/mod/coil/build more blah blah blah
The idea is you just get the flavour without excess power that might start to cook the juice over time.

You have to play with some settimgs and adjust the airflow for your own personal preferences.

I have the True set for modest vape cloud and others like the Zenith and a big Hastur producing a bit more more cloud as it is quite airy. They all vape slightly different how I have them setup - you just gotta tweak it a bit so it ticks most of your boxes.

I use the True and the Zenith when the True is charging and or what ever one I manage to find stuffed in my rucksack at work at breaktime. They are both very good tanks and how I got the tiny True setup, I have used it a few times for a crafty stealth vape too

You'll suss it I'm sure

Forget about volts. That will come with time. Ultimately just worry about the wattage. Want more power - turn it up. Want less - turn it down.

Batteries don't work in Watts. They work in volts. So coil resistance and voltage = Watts. But don't worry about it. Just concentrate on the wattage and getting a good Vape. Change the wattage and your mod will adjust the voltage accordingly for you.

Thanks all for helping me to figure this out & special thanks to fuctifino for suggesting the ehpro and the excellent build advice.
The tank itself is excellent, absolutely no leaks whatsoever and the top fill system is awesome.

I have it dialled in almost perfectly now with a 1.7ohm coil 2.5dia on 29ga Kanthal firing at 10W and the Zelos is putting out 4.1volts.

The only minor issue is that I'm not getting quite as much flavour as I did from the Nautilus 2.

You're never gonna totally reproduce the flavour from one tank to another. The Ehpro True has far more potential than the Nautilus 2. You may need to experiment with different builds. When you get it right the flavour will be far better.

have you also tried bumping the amps up a bit ???

according to steam engine a 1.7 Ohm on 29awg has a ballpark guide of 14w & 4.8v
NB depends if it really it is 29awg not 28 or 30
plus if that is a 1.7 or a 1.75 Ohm as I strongly think the True conducts better
also if a 2.5mm diameter coil blah blah blah - most likely 7 wrap
or 6 wrap on a 3.0mm coil blah blah blah still has a GUIDE of 14w & 4.8v

where as a 1.4 Ohm has a ballpark of 11w & 3.9v

Now shit varies LOADS and it is only a guide - cue the POTC memes
but point I was making the true is very efficient so unlikely you will need to hit the max/guidelines
plus note the volts also as well as the watts pumping out as some mods/tanks it makes a difference like Vapefly spitting

The True for certain does not need anything near that guide in most instances/juices
probably most tanks/builds don't need all that - it is only a ballpark guide of the coil blah blah blah

So on my 1.4's I don't need the full 11w or 3.9v, but something like 9.5w and/or 3.65v

with your build on your coil IF that is 29awg at 1.7 or perhaps 1.75 on other tanks
that 10w @ 4.1v could be a smidge low on those Ohms

so have you tried bumping it up to say 12w & maybe 4.5v
I know I said 3.65v never needing to go above 11w or 3.9/4v but that is coz I got 1.4 Ohm

I know I do not need to hit coz I got the flavour winding it back coz tank is very efficient & my coil
but a 1.7 or I think more likely 1.75 if placed in another tank will need a bit more of a bump
The True is good but it ain't a fucking magician if the amps/volts are too low to fire properly

Yes I know I said never needing to hit 4v & all that but I was referring to MY COIL and MY TANK/BUILD

YOUR COIL/BUILD is different to MINE and according to the guide on steam engine:

https://www.steam-engine.org/coil.html?r=1.7&awg=29&id=2.5

10w & 4.1v is perhaps a bit too low - even on the True

I'd be inclined to bump it up to 12w 4.45/4.5v on that coil if I'm honest
if you wire is 29awg but remember all this crap is only a guide

what I was saying above all else get the flavour without too much power
get the flavour, wind it back a bit until you just start to lose it, then gently bump it back up
but all this BS is dependant on YOUR TANK/BUILD/JUICE etc.... as well as YOUR TASTEBUDS too

on that coil - which is different to my coil you took what I said I do perhaps too literally maybe

DON'T BE AFRAID TO BUMP IT UP A BIT if you feel the flavour is a bit below par
I mean don't go ultra nutz like 50w, but think you might be a little bit low for YOUR COIL even in the True as good as it is

experiment at say 12w~12.5w ~13w or about 4.5v I'd say to see if you get a bit more flavour on your 1.7/1.75 Ohm coil

DISCLAIMER - the above including my BS is only intended to be taken as a GUIDE
NOT set in stone or to be taken 101% literally word for word
juice & taste-buds vary loads and people will feel they need a whisker more/less blah blah blah

I'm just saying your power "seems" a tad too low on your coil perhaps if flavour is a bit below par
so maybe up the power a bit and ignore my BS or not follow it to the letter quite so much

as @rew said no two different tanks are the exact same in the way they vape/flavour etc....

wicking also plays a big part in the way it is wicked and not too tight or too loose etc.....
ensuring the grain runs through the coil and the quality of the cotton & more blah x 3

but I think your power settings are a smidge too low for your 1.7/1.75 coil imho
based upon my own experiences - though like I say I'm no expert nor anything I say is set in stone
to some with a different coil they will be using way different settings to you or me or what any guide says

glad you got on with it - hope you can squeeze a bit more flavour out of it to properly satisfy your taste

(fuck it, if there is any more grammar/spelling errors)

The True can perform well above its price but it does take some time and effort to get it right. It can go from good to excellent dependent on coil height and thickness of wick and tail placement. For me personally I had my coil as low as was sensible to go. Cut the wick tails to never be longer than the bottom of the well cut-outs. I found a slight thinning of the tails helped and just enough wick in the coil for some resistance but not too thin. Others don’t thin at all so it really is personal choice.

I’d recommend losing a wrap or maybe two to bring the ohms down to around 1 ohm and starting at 13 watts and playing around the 13-16 watt mark? Some tanks need a bit more and some a bit less. You won’t replicate a stock coil though.

What I’ve suggested was just my way and how I liked to set it up. It may work for you but it may not.

agreed as good as the True is it never fully replicates the Zenith vaping experience
though I reckon according to my weird taste-buds the hastur 3.5ml perhaps comes the closest of my RTA's to zenith
(but still a different vaping experience, might be closer but it's just too airy & so rate the True as my own personal fav rta)

I think 6 wraps is a good starting point - some say 5 many might use 7 - but depends on wire/diameter the final Ohms blah blah blah
and the Ohms n shit all vary in all our tanks what we ourselves thinks works best for us & our weird juices etc....

above all else - nothing is set in stone & just our opinions which are like arseholes - everybody has one etc....
you'll figure out what works best for you, your tank/coil/juice/setup etc.....

Yep we're all different. I use 27g kanthal usually in the True. 2.5mm ID, 6 or 7 wraps. Comes out at about 1 ohm to 1.1 ish. Works for me at anywhere between 12 to 15 watts.

Really struggling to get this work right. I am not an MTL guy, but more of a restricted direct lung vapor and my main issue is that this tank gives me too many dry hits. Is it because the bottom liquid ports are too small?

I have tried with lots of cotton and very less cotton and everything in between, but I feel that there seems to be a point after a couple of drags, where the tank loses its vacuum properties and the wick just gets dry. Would love to hear from you guys.
