Well I've finally worked out a design for a box mod I'm gonna build.

For the initial one I'm just gonna go simple and keep it mech.

Because of the design I won't be able to use drippers so it'll be tanks only so won't be going lower than 0.5 ohms.

From what I can tell I'll need:-
510 connector
Fire button
On/off switch
Battery sled
Wire

Anything I missed?

So my question is what are the better brands/makes and type of wire I should be looking at?

Also anyone know where I can get a fairly decent budget soldering iron from?

Thanks in advance

One thing you've missed, Mosfet. Even with the .5 you'll blow the switch after a while. The larger the gauge wire, the better, 2.5mm²/14AWG is the minimal size you should be using. Any make is fine, doesn't matter for DC current whether it's stranded or solid.

As for a Soldering Iron, Amazon or eBay will sort ya..

Don't really know much about mosfets. Any pointers?

At this point, I think you need to go do some more research before building. BoxModders from Box Modders over on Farcebook is a great source of info.

Which is better n or p channel Mosfet?

There's really not much difference, apart from 2 things, when talking about Box Mods. Unfortunately, I'm not one to spoon feed information, so I'd suggest having a google. The reason why I do this, is so you actually learn what's happening rather than just giving you the information, I will give you this hint: Look at the amp rating and the way they're wired.

P fets generally have a higher resistance so aren't always preferable.

Choice also depends on the application, eg. if you want to use one of rics lovely modmeters :).

I think ax linked the boxmodders page above. Definitely worth a good read of there files.

Understanding the specs/ratings when making your choice is very important.

Additionally, its good to know what your components are doing. It will make troubleshooting any issues a lot easier in the long run.

p.s. I'd go for stranded wire, its a lot easier to manage/route. If you are using a FD 510 its a better choice too, as there is movement in the positive connection.

ax Loco from what I've seen most people seem to go for the n channel Mosfet. I'm guessing because it can handle alot higher voltage/amps.
Both modmaker and stealthvape only seem to sell one sort of n channel so it'd be one of those I'd buy.
My set up is only gonna have a single 18650 and no display or anything. Just want to keep it basic mech style.
