What's new

First successful re-wick.

This briefly gave what I suspect was a more accurate reading at lunchtime - 1.02 ohms and 9 - 15w. It went back to the 0.2 ohms after powering down though...

This is strange @Astral :hmm:

I'm guessing now - - - Check the 510 on your mod is clean or check the 510 pin on the RTA!

I wish I had more experience to help you with a solution.

@Astral .... For process of elimination's sake, whack a new coil in. Make it yerself from your usual spool. It's not sitting easy with my OCD and fear for your well being, MTL'ing a bloody 0.20 ohm coil. Just put another coil in.

Problem Solved.

I sat down and did a full, methodical re-build this morning, and finally established what was wrong.

It turns out one end of the coil was very slightly too high and fouling the bell housing on its very final turn.

I've now reshaped and dropped the coil a little and its reads a normal 1.07ohm and best of 9 - 15w.

I tested the output between each stage and re-built the whole thing with the same parts, for continuity.

Patience and pragmatism wins the day!

Thanks for all your help and concerns folks, this is a great community.

Peace and prosperity to you all.
