Hey guys,

Firstly Merry Xmas too you all.

So I gave a go at my first coil build on my squonker (wraith 80w) today and was not overly satisfied with the flavour it was producing compared to my cleito tank. I have put it down to my build but was hoping someone could advise on what I may of done wrong with this build. I have attached a pic for you to see. It's running at 40w on 0.48ohm and 4.2v. Thanks guys

I wouldn't bother with Clapton just yet if you've never built a coil and just use standard kanthal, maybe 24 gauge around a 3mm drill bit. Keeping the wraps nice and close, then fire and pinch until glowing even. I find it a bit more difficult to get Claptons glowing even and removing hot spots. It's up to you though, if you want to stay with claptons then as above you need to fire and pinch before you wick.

As above, but also, depending on what make of cotton you are using, I've heard occasionally it needs a little time to bed in. That's usually just on tanks though as I haven't noticed it on drippers.

They look awfully close to the deck. Where are they in relation to the air flow? Ideally you'll want it to travel around the coils as much as possible, if it's a side intake then get the coils so you can just see the bottom of them through the slot and quite close to the air.
Squeeze them closer together and strum them till they ramp up and glow evenly.

Ok thanks guys, think I was rushing around to much really. I may start it from scratch to be honest as I was messing around with it a lot. With the 2 post and only having one hole to get the 2legs from either side in, is there any technique to this to make it a bit easier at all? Hope my description makes sense.

My opinion, watch a couple of rip trippers on YouTube.. Good luck buddy

Try to make sure your coil turns are nice and tight. I've never used and spaced coils.
