As always this review is my own thoughts and not associated with anyone from Freemax or POTV. Nor have I been paid for my thoughts.

Abit about the kit....

The new kit in maxus range by freemax is the solo, this comes with the new Fireluke solo tank which is sure to produce great flavour and vapour production. This kit also features a unique mood light setting which is customisable to what the owner wants.

The kit comes in 6 colours and I reviewed the black version.

On the front it houses a large 1.06in oled screen which is surrounded by LED customisable lighting also showing the chipset.

On the side of the device you have a clever feature a lock and unlock button which simply slides and clicks into place.

On the back of the mod you have maxus solo branded on a plastic cover which has led strips to shine through the back of the mod matching the colours displayed on the front.

There are plenty of options and safety features involved in this mod, the menu is full of different colour options, firing modes and information.

The kit uses the FM Chip 3.0 and the safety features included are as below:

The basic button features are:

• Up button and fire switch together, will show the Fmos 3 serial number

• Down button and fire switch together will activate the menu system; this can also be achieved by clicking the fire switch 3x fast and scrolling through the screen attributes to settings

• Holding down both adjustment buttons together will lock and unlock the adjustment buttons however the device will still fire.

• To lock the device or put it into sleep mode use the side slide switch.

The device adjusts from 5W- 100W in 5W Increments, the device is also able to use temp control and the wire usable are:

• Stainless steel
• Nickel
• Titanium

The device goes from 200-600F or 100-350° in temp control mod.

The menu system is set inside the large 1.06in oled screen. The unique point about this mod is the fact the front is completely transparent meaning you can see the LED light strips but also the Chip board inside.

Displayed on the screen are the usual.

• Puff counter
• Mode
• Mode setting
• Voltage
• Quick Start menu

All buttons on the front are plastic and clicky, clicking the fire button 3 times quickly will allow you to move around the screen, changing the mode you're in by using the yellow cursor, and also the mode firing setting you use: soft, normal or sport which use different ramp up times when firing. But also it will allow you to enter the menu system.

When entering the menu system you are brought to a screen with lots of options to chose between.

The thing I really like that freemax have done here is having the option to turn the led light show on or off. However in my testing I've used the device with the light show in all different options available:

• On always
• Breathing
• Flashing
• Always off

In all different modes I've found the battery level doesn't deplete any different on each, I'm usually one for turning these gimmicky type of things off straight away but the way freemax have done this I've found myself leaving the lights on.

Another feature which makes this different is not only do you have the general default colours but also a diy part when you can mix different colours to make what you want as your colour screen setting.

A way of saving battery which is built in to the mod is set hibernation and this will happen after 30 seconds of no use.

Tank & coils....

The tank included is the new fireluke solo tank unfortunately for UK buyers the 2ml tpd law plays a massive part In this kit, by that I mean it's an absolute pain! Using the coils at wattages between 50-80 mostly around 60/65 I've found I'm forever filling this tank up and after a while it does get annoying and I've found myself using an alternative tank until I source the 5ml or bigger bubble tank.

That being said the tank mixed with the coils give a fantastic vape. Its got a child resistant filling method on the top of the tank your see freemax etched on the cap you simply pull up and push and it shall reveal the filling port.

16541675563534789543121211528415.jpg

It has 2 large airflow cyclops slots which turn nicely and stay in place well, I've found with both coils you can get a very good open DL, cut down to a warm flavourful DTL.

16541675792213666201321872099694.jpg

On top of the tank is a 810 fitted mouth piece which for me feels quite tall and thin and I've found myself changing it for one of my own which feels abit more comfortable.

Coils....

Two push fit coils have been included with the kit, both coils are the new FL range, which have been constructed using military grade SS904L mesh and tea fibre cotton.

• FL1-D Mesh 0.15ohm coil (pre installed) 50 to 80W

• FL2 dual Mesh 0.2ohm coil 50 to 80W

I found it a shame that both coils were rated for the same wattage but having used them both they're both great in there own way and provide fairly different vapes.

I Started with the pre installed coil the new 0.15ohm as always with new coils you should prime correctly and I always advise wait around 10 minutes before your first vape, which should be at a low wattage slowly working up in small increments until you find your sweet spot. I found mine for this coil at 65W.

It gave a fantastic mouth watering vape with thick clouds and great vapour production I was really shocked by how good the flavour was here but then again freemax have a magical way with coils and these are no different at all.

As previously said I found myself filling this tank up very often with the small 2ml tank but that didn't take anything away from the fantastic vape.

I got around 3 hours using this as my sole device all day using a single 18650 and around 4/4.5 hours using a 21700. So I strongly reccomend taking a few batteries with you.

I got around a 1.5 weeks using this coil all day every day which is was quite happy with.

I moved onto the 2nd coil included the 0.2ohm again following the priming rules, I eventually found my sweet spot to be around 55W, this coil again produced great flavour and vapour but the higher I went with the wattage I found myself thinking maybe I was pushing it too far. Therefore I found myself at lower wattages, meaning I got slightly longer on my battery life but still the same amount of time out of a coil.

Overall I preferred the 0.15ohm coil but both are absolutely brilliant just a massive shame about the poxy 2ml law in the UK, as with a larger glass section you won't be filling up every 5 minute and can enjoy the vape this kit gives

Pros and Niggles...

Pros....

• Great flavour
• Decent coil life
• Lights can be on or off
• Comfortable mod
• Different battery options
• Side lock switch

Niggles...

• Definitely needs bigger tank
• Coils rated at same wattage
• Maybe a better mouth piece

Overall thoughts...

Overall once again freemax have done brilliantly with this piece of kit, the way you can customise the colours to whatever you want, different modes they can be presented but also the fact you can turn them off if you want is great.

The coils produce great flavour and plenty of clouds unfortunately being in the UK its 2ml TPD which makes this tank a massive pain as you are constantly refilling so I would reccomend the bigger glass section for sure. Also I feel freemax have missed a trick they've included 2 different coils which is great but both work at the same wattages although they give different type of vape I would have like to have seen a coil for a lower wattage range between 40-50W.

I would reccomend this kit to somebody looking for a new DL kit especially if you like bright colourful mods but also for an easy lightweight carry.

Thank you once again freemax for the chance to review this and look out for the new kit being released as I'm sure it won't dissapoint.

Thank you for reading my review.
