What's new

Gave in to temptation..............

So, today I had my first roll up for about 8 days :sleepy: My Crohns disease has been playing me up chronic for a few days, and I thought a roll up may "cheer me up", not sure where I got that logic?! but it made sense at the time
But anyway, roll ups = Bleeeeuuuugggghhhh! after vaping and not touching one for a while, they really taste like cack, all I could taste was burning paper, amonia and god knows what other chemicals, it really wasn`t nice at all.
So hopefully, that thought will keep me away from them!

Know how you feel Triumph m8, so keep at it, you'll get there. I sustained some awful spinal injuries serving in the military; I'm in constant unrelenting chronic pain and at times it is absolutely excrutiating. I can certainly relate to how extreme levels of pain can make things very difficult indeed. I realise that there is a whole lot more to Crohn's than just pain, and I've got a whole load of other problems as well, but I find it's the pain that more often than not that causes the relapses.

I've managed to completely stay off the tobacco though, but I've nearly given in a few times when the pain or other issues get to a point where logic and rationality takes a back seat to highly elevated stress levels.

In general I vape 24mg liquids, but I always keep an atty handy with some 36mg liquid in and get a few hits in on that if things get bad, and thus far it has stopped me instinctively reaching for the cigars.

Hang in there mate :-) .

Arctic_Wolf Thanks mate, appreciate it.
Sounds like you're often in a bad way too :(
i used to suffer with pretty severe spinal pain too for a few years, before I had an emergency discectomy, so I've got some idea what you're suffering, it really can be unbearable.

fair play for keeping of the tobacco, it does take some severe will power at times.
ive been vaping 18 or 24mg liquids, but may have to get some 36mg in for tough times! Only trouble is, I have trouble sleeping if I'm vaping high nic juices at times, which I find odd, as I could smoke roll ups until I was blue in the face (and lungs?!) yet still sleep like a baby.

Bad man lol but on the up side you now know what ya missing lol

Sorry to hear its still giving ya jip pal, I find easing back on caffine no fruit and dense meats helps to stop compounding problems but like they say everyone is different trigger wise

Unfortunately I am bedridden waiting for a neurosurgeon appt to sort another discectomy. I am on double dose ibuprofen, 600 mg Lyrica, codeine 5 times a day and the out of hours doc has kindly given me 100ml morphine. It still isn't touching the pain. I went to 2 health centres and 2 hospitals on monday and collapsed at the last one, none of them had a doc willing to see me. The last hospital which has just had a full rebuild to bring it into the 21st century turned out to be a nurses station only. If I wasn't feeling so sick and faint from the pain I would have been gobsmacked.

Hope you both get some pain relief soon as its pretty depressing.......however......haven't had the urge for a ciggie, not even once after 6mnths away from one I really haven't wanted one once. The 36mg must be doing something:)

I think it was the tablets that the doc prescribed that kicked it off, so I've binned those. Haven't really eaten much of anything the last few days, bowl of rice and a few bags of crisps! Have no appetite at all. Hopefully it eases off as I don't fancy another bout of steroids.

but yeah, I was surprised how gross the roll up was! Amazing that your mind can fool you into thinking they're really nice for any length of time. Oddly my neighbour is having a smoke outside now, and its wafting through the window, and it still smells nice, not tempting, but nice!

Sounds grim mate, I feel for you. I'm surprised no one would see you especially after collapsing! Though it seems you have to follow the regimented route in order to get something sorted, which usually takes a long time.

i was quite lucky (?) as I'd suffered back pain for a few years, woke up one morning and couldn't walk, NHS direct said I needed to go straight to the hospital, had a MRI and another couple of tests and was operated on early the next morning, the consultant neurosurgeon flew back from his hols just to do it.

i sincerely hope you get it sorted soon though mate.

Ill have to get some 36mg in, sounds like its doing the job for you in tough times

vape on!

Thanks Triumph, I can walk to the kitchen, about 10yds but that distance is getting shorter daily. I'm expecting to be unable to walk by monday so will call an ambulance then.

Constant pain is very hard to handle and I do hope you get sorted quickly................ NHS is well known for dragging its heals.

When I was in first time it was one test a day.........surely it is better to get one done after the other and get you out of hospital as quick as possible. Whilst waiting to know what was wrong I was literally loosing weight daily my normal weight was 11.5 stone which tbh I was skinny, whilst in I went to 7 stone.

Main thing I find with the NHS is you have to push for treatment get on their cases and dont let up until they sort it for you

Trouble seems to be, it's all about the money now, if they can get away without doing any tests they will, that and the abundance of hypochondriacs (I work with a few) who are constantly burdening the health service with non existent ailments and taking the places of people who are genuinely suffering (one of my many pet hates!!!!)

but yeah, multiple tests in one day can quite easily be done if needed, as I say, in hindsight, I feel incredibly lucky about my spinal treatment, all getting done when it needed to be. Someone else in the village had the same condition, went to a different hospital, and got sent home with pain killers, he's now sadly in a wheel chair as they didn't take the action needed at the time.
